The thing is, we all have these voices in our heads and they
can really wreak havoc on our lives. Some call them gremlins, inner critics, or my favorite is Itty Bitty Shitty Committee. Many of
these voices are messages that have actually been said to us at some point in our lives, often by our parents, teachers or other
authority figures that we respected.
They're not all bad, and in fact many of them have been keeping
us safe for much of our lives, particularly when we were young. The problem is we often have trouble discerning if these
voices really have our best interests at heart or if they are
just desperate to maintain the status quo.
What are the messages in your head? Maybe "I am
disorganized, my family comes first, I don't have time to write
that book, I can do this by myself, I couldn't possibly say no -
they need me!" There are so many messages we listen to that prevent us from living our lives with authenticity, self-love,
and joy. These voices are masterful at keeping us small, safe
and in our box.
Allowing them to run our lives prevents us from living up to
our fullest potential and can leave us feeling frustrated, confused and depressed. The good news is, it doesn't have to
be that way! There are ways to outsmart these voices so you
can bravely step into a life that supports the full expression of
who you are.
