I remember the moment that my high school guidance counselor called me into his office to give me the results of what he called an "IQ" test.
I waited for him to open the envelope and tell me if I would pass Go and collect my $200 or whether I would need a get out of jail free card.
Finally, my guidance counselor looked at me and said,"you don't have a brain that would not make it in college."
I listened, butdecided at that moment that I would not allow a test or anything else stop me from my life's work, which was to offer the world something special.
This thought is what has carried me through life, my career, and every aspect of engaging in the world. This thought created emotions of excitement and adventure, and encouraged me to take the risks that would allow me to open doors of opportunity.
Instead of believing that no money, even for the college application fee, could hold me back, I applied and was accepted to the only school with no application fee. Upon my arrival, I declared myself a savvy bartender working practically full-time to pay my tuition and living expenses.
My passion in life is to create opportunity for all people to realize their potential. For that reason, I have spent more than 25 years working as a country director for international social organizations orchestrating initiatives dedicated to improving health, education, economic and environmental harmony.
It has been a privilege and a blessing, working and living in Paraguay, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Ghana where the humble folks in the villages have challenged me to grow and develop in phenomenal ways.
Now my career is a combination of international work addressing challenging issues such as natural resource management, climate change, and public health leadership.
I also offer leaders the opportunity to assess their leadership potential and identify and work specific areas for development.
At the next Dream Factory Luncheon, I willl introduce an Energy Leadership Assessment that I use with world leaders. The assessment is distinct from the more common personality type assessments like the famous Myers Briggs.
The difference is that the Energy Leadership Assessment is an assessment that measures attitude. This is what I like about the Energy Leadership Assessment. It is not something that will quantify you as that fateful "IQ" test was intended for me when I was a young woman.
Rather, this assessment helps you to know what your leadership potential is at this moment, and to what level you are engaging in life to inspire yourself and others. The good news is that the assessment helps you to identify the development areas necessary to work on so that you can realize the potential you desire.
I look forward to sharing this unique experience with the Dream Factory at the October Luncheon where we will use some practical applications to learn about the seven energy levels and how this kind of consciousness leads us on an authentic path to our life's desires.
