Greetings!

WelcoNC croppedme to the Dream Factory!

I don't know about you, but I am not fond of changes.  Wait a minute, that isn't true.  They are exciting and bring new opportunities.

Being a Gemini, I always have to be two-headed about everything.  It is important to keep the positive perspective on change, to embrace it and the new openings it can leave in its wake.

William Bridges wrote a great book called Transitions.  In it, he describes the process of transitioning.

When you are dealing with a change, it is important to focus on what is ending.  Honor it, accept it, and say goodbye to it.  Next, there is a Neutral Zone which is that uncomfortable place between the old and the new.  The old is gone, but the new isn't in place yet.

This gap can be uncomfortable, but if you can embrace it, new beginnings are born with their unexpected joys and uniqueness.  In this newsletter, we will focus on changes and new beginnings.

Best,

Nancy Cantor

"RECALCULATING"  Is there really a GPS system for life?

Don't you just love taking the wrong turn when your GPS system is on and hearing the lady in the box - or as some people call her - the b-i-t-c-h in the box say "Recalculating!"

I do this so much when I'm delivering lamps that I half expect her to finally say, "For crying out loud would you just once do what I tell you?!!"

Well when I think of my life and the highways and byways that I took to get where I am today, I realize that the lady in the box has been with me all my whole life and my mantra all my life has been "Recalculating!"

For those of you who are true planners you will probably be shaking your head saying how did she ever survive?
For those of you who journey through life without a road map I hope you hear something here that might be encouraging.

But for all of you, I hope there is something in this presentation that will help you in the future, especially when you are hit with road blocks in your life.

Poetry and music have always played a big role in my life and I always incorporate one or more into whatever I do. So I would like to begin with a quote from a very courageous woman and a poem.
Just show up and things will happen.
Mother Teresa

Don't Quit by an unknown author

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Come to the Women in Business Luncheon to hear more about how you can greet the changes in your life.  You are never too old or young to recalulate.

New Addition to the Dream Factory Community!
Joonu and family
Joonu Coste, Cheif Communications Officer for the Dream Factory Community, gave birth to her daughter on May 23rd.

A note from Joonu: Saoirse (pronounced SAIR-sha, meaning "freedom" in Gaelic) Meghan Andrews Coste was born yesterday at home at 7:08 pm.

She's 6lbs 10 oz and 19" long.

We're all doing GREAT! Paul is home for the week and my mom will be here for the subsequent 2 weeks. Interestingly, Saoirse made her debut on the same day as my son, Kiernan's birthday! What are the odds of having 2 children born 4 years apart on the same day??? And even more interesting, one of my best friends ALSO had her baby yesterday - we both had the same due date and both went "late".

It must have been an auspicious day for birthing!

We wish them all well with the joyous changes a new baby brings.
