FEATURE ARTICLE: Preparing Your Business To Grow!

Designing for a Prosperous New Year! by Melissa Discolo, Client Relationship Manager, Shepherd & Goldstein, LLP
Working with small business clients, I have had my share of New Year's resolution phone calls in January. Each year, these business owners evaluate their businesses and decide that they want to take steps to become more prosperous in the New Year. We often sit together and evaluate their strengths and weaknesses and begin the implementation of the four proven ways to grow their business which are:
1. Win new customers 2. Increase the number of times they buy from you 3. Increase the average transaction value 4. Improve the effectiveness and processes within your business to achieve the first three.
Much like the diet resolutions of the New Year, some business owners just can't stick to the changes necessary to grow their business. Read full article here...

12/01 - Giving Thanks and Giving Back by Carol Madsen
On this Thanksgiving morning I am thinking about how thankful I am for
the opportunities I've had; for my family, friends and colleagues; and
how lucky I am to be able to contribute to others at this time in my
life. Preparing for a recent radio interview (check out the whole
interview at AlliancExchange), I took time to reflect on contribution and how little it takes to make a huge difference in some parts of the world.
For example, the families we work with in the rainforest of Ecuador
earn about $1000/annually. Sending a child to secondary school could
cost half that amount. That's why post elementary school is out of the
question for most of the rural poor. Yet for us in the U.S., $20 per
week could be a small contribution -- less than 2 cups of coffee per
day at your local coffee shop. That $20/week would add up to $1040 per
year. Read entire article...
12/03 - What is a CDO? Being a Chief Dream Officer, New Programs, and the new Worcester Community in 2010! by Nancy Cantor
Being a CDO is a context, inside of which you can generate all aspects of life. We all have dreams for our lives, our work and our world. Whether you are a manager in a corporation, a solo-entrepreneur, or stay-at-home mom; imagined futures can be created when you clarify what they are, design a plan, disarm your private saboteur, and align a community of support. 12/08 - Creating an Extraordinary Family - The Rise of a Domestic Entrepreneur by Joonu Coste
About six months ago some difficult decisions had to be made about my business and my family's future. For reasons too numerous to go into here, we made the decision as a family that we would homeschool and I would be "at home" to support our family. (For more, go to Heart of the Matter Online for two blogs on the topic.) To say that it was a big adjustment would be an understatement. To say that all had gone smoothly would be untrue. However the positive outcome must be credited to context. Context is key. Read entire article...
12/10 - Green Seasonal Greetings!by Laura and Dianne of Sustainable Life Solutions We'd like to thank the Dream Factory Community for supporting our new adventure this year. In thanks we're sharing green tips that'll bring you holiday cheer! To improve the air, add plants to your home, or give them as a gift Peace plants and ivy reduce toxins and give your breathing a lift. Switch to LED holiday lights and spend but a dollar for the season Older lights cost $75 to run... not upgrading, we can't see the reason.

It has been a time of tremendous personal growth for me! Since joining I started my business, Women's Wilderness Retreats which has enabled me to fulfill many dreams in my life, my work, and my world. I originally joined the Dream Factory Community to do a little business networking, wondering what I could get out of it with as little effort as possible. What I've since gained through participating fully, by "jumping in with both feet" has been a major transformation in my life! Read entire article... 12/17 - The Year In Reviewby Deborah Strafuss As we musingly arrive at mid - December, those of us preparing for traditional holiday get-togethers are entering a period of slight anxiety and potential frenzy - and whatever our bent, in the United States, we are fast approaching the New Year and that "Year-in-Review" mindset that enters unbidden into our subconscious. Read entire article... 12/26 - Don't Miss Unexpected Beauty!by Tracy Harrison I am always amazed at how much inspiration is around us every day. I want to share a true story with all of you. It was in a Washington, DC Metro Station on a cold January morning in 2007. The man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about an hour. During that time approximately two thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. Read entire article... 12/26 - A Lesson In Trustby Judy Giovangelo I am a very kinesthetic and visual person. The hardest part of losing Ben for me is not that he is gone, because I know he is not, but that I cannot touch, see or feel him. I can only hear him. Every night when I go to bed, I ask him to show himself to me in my dreams. Somehow I feel there will be comfort there; but, he doesn't come. Trusting only his voice has been tough. It's not tangible. It's easy to discard and even easier to tell myself I am just imagining it or making up our conversations so I can feel some kind of connection. I have often heard him say "This is a lesson in trust." I can't help but wonder if our entire relationship has been about trust. As I write these words, I hear him chuckle in my right ear. Read entire article... 12/28 - Position Yourself for the Economic Recoveryby Nancy Dube A big problem is that companies still lack confidence in the strength and sustainability of the recovery. For those who are unemployed, I recommend that you seek out a Job Coach. This is someone who can help you create your vision. For those who are employees or own a businesses, you need to strategically plan your next move. You have an opportunity to position for the future. Finding a job is more than luck. Finding the right employees take careful planning, screening, and orientation. Read entire article...

LAUNCHING NEW COACHING CERTIFICATION PROGRAM!

Exciting Leadership Opportunities Continue to Emerge in The DFC! by Nancy Cantor
I have run my business since 1994 and have been coaching people individually and in groups since that time. When I started the Dream Factory Community in 2004, I was committed to having a model that supported people in living their dreams.
Everyone who joins the Dream Factory Community, takes the Chief Dream Officer Training and then continue the develop and execute their roadmap in accountability groups called Prosperity Circles. The circles are led by members who are being trained by me to support their participants in being CDOs who are clarifying and fulfilling their dreams.
This training is now being turned into a Dream Factory Coaching Certification Program that includes group facilitation and 1-on-1 coaching. We all win in this process! We become a community of women, supporting each other in living our dreams.
Some Prosperity Circle Leaders will go on to be trained to be the CDO of their own Dream Factory Community. Right now we have a new CDO emerging in the Worcester area, Joonu Coste. She is a 2-year member who will be leading a CDO Training over 2-nights in January, our first evening training. She will also be leading a Prosperity Circle in that area as well, starting in January.
Want to get involved?
It all starts with joining the Dream Factory Community!
