The Power of Relationships
When I first started my business in 1994, I was lucky
enough to be part of the Landmark Education's
community; having worked for them and
participated
in many of their programs.
When i first thought of having a coaching business, it
was because a Landmark colleague in New York,
suggested I try it and gave me his basic structure
for
setting up the business.
It was during that time, when I was considering having
a coaching business, that I was approached by
someone who was referred to me by
someone I had
coached when I was working for Landmark.
She ended up hiring me, and I went on to enroll
other
people who knew me from that community, to hire
me
for my coaching services.
What is the point?
When you are starting a new business you have many
important relationships with people who view you
as capable, competent and valuable.
Then you have to build on those relationships
and create viability in your new role.
For example, if you were a teacher and now
you are selling health products; focus on the
teaching aspect of your business--how you will
teach people how to make better health choices.
Always build on the relationship that is there to
generate the next phase of that relationship that
will allow for an exchange of services for money.
