From the Pits to the Palace
- Have you ever felt down on your luck?
- Do you have any challenges in your life or
business?
- Do you need some inspiration and courage?
Then Carrie H. Johnson wrote, "From the Pits to
the Palace: One Woman's Journey to
Self Realization through Entrepreneurship," just
for you!
She says, "Yes, that's the name of my book. I put my
heart and soul into my book and it tells a great story
about my journey from welfare to multimillion dollar
business owner. My story is undeniable
confirmation that whether you think you can or you
think you can't, you're right! It's about finding your own
magnificence."
If you would like a taste of your own magnificence, join
Carrie and the Dream Factory Community for a
Conference to remember.
She will be the keynote speaker, on June 11th,
7:30pm and lead a workshop on June 12th called,
"Personal Presence: What is it? Who's got it?
Why should I care? How do I
get some?"
On Thursday night, June 11th, there will be a pre-
dinner party
including a wine-tasting by Marianne
Haldoupis of The Inspired Grape, paired with
appetizers provided by Tracy Harrison of
Purpose, LLC.
If that isn't enough, they will be joined by
masseuses, Buffy Cave and Cindy Lennihan,
who will also be available for the the after-dinner
Spa Party which will feature Detox Spa Treatments
that will leave you relaxed and refreshed.
When you are feeling so relaxed, why not just go
upstairs and go to sleep? Our conference facility
can
accommodate up to 28 lucky women who will turn this
conference into a retreat. Stay and play--more
wine, a
little massage, good friends, it doesn't get any better.
But then it does!!! The next morning, do
yoga with
Judy Giovangelo, or take a walk in the
woods with
Penny Dickson. (yes, there are hiking trails.)
Have a
leisurely continental breakfast, inside or out,
as you
prepare for a day of change.
Choose from several workshops: Personal
Presence
with Carrie, Our Work in the World; an
exploration of
creating non-profits with Joonu Coste and Carol
Madsen, Discovering Your Best Self with Penny
Dickson and Tracy Harrison, Greening Up! with Susan
Tordella and "It's Not About The Clothes; A Financial
Guide For Women Of All Ages," with Donna Lynch and
Leah Alvanos.
Throughout the conference, we will
have a silent auction with the proceeds going
to our partners, Alliance Exchange and

Detox Spa Journey by Beatriz Sanchez and Tess Roberts
|
|
Have you ever been to that point where the stress
of daily life gets to you, and you feel tired and
overwhelmed? Have you ever felt that doing
one more chore or running one more errand is just
about all you can handle?
Well, maybe you ought to listen to your own body
telling you "it is time to cleanse and purify"
Maybe it's time you give your body a chance
to "detoxify".
Detoxification supports the body's natural ability to
cleanse and restore itself. Over time, toxins can
build up and overwhelm the body, weakening the
immune system and leading to poor digestion,
fatigue, stress, skin breakouts, stiffness, weight gain
and premature aging.
It is through the skin that we eliminate toxins,
substances that can create an irritating or harmful
effect on our system. When the skin, liver, kidneys,
lung and digestive tract can't effectively eliminate
toxins, they build up causing a negative effect by
overloading our bodies.
We invite you to escape the stress and toxins of
daily life with a luxurious spa journey to purity and
revitalization, with sea extracts and marine
botanicals that deeply cleanse and rid your system of
the internal and external toxins that come to you
through the air you breathe, the water you drink, the
objects you touch and the food you eat.
Any time is the right time to take a Detox Spa
Journey It starts close to home or at a friend's,
but far from telephones and to-do lists.
.
Join us after the Conference dinner on June 11th,
for a Detox Spa Journey, massage, and more.

Our Conference Sponsors Make It Easy
|
|
Strategic Financial
Partners, a marketing firm of New England
Financial, is our top sponsor. (Check out their
website under
QuickLinks)
For over 75 years this organization has had a tradition
of helping people realize important life goals -
both personal and professional. Their clients trust
their expertise in insurance and financial services,
and they appreciate the many advantages they offer as
a long-established leader in financial
services.
In speaking with Ami Howes, their Recruitment
Director, it became clear their commitment to
hiring of women and their ability to
support the unique financial needs of women.
We are thrilled to have them sponsor this conference
and with 3 of their Financial Reps as members of
the
Dream Factory, have them as presenters as well.
Our next sponsor is a familiar name with a new
product. Staples is now creating stand-alone
Copy & Printshops that can provide a
variety of
needs;
printing, coping, design, and promotional product to
name a few. (just press the Easy button to find out
more)
Not only will they be providing our conference books
and pens, but Business Make-Over Packages for
our Silent Auction. The lucky recepients will
receive services that give their business a whole
new professional look. (Click on the Easy Button

Representatives from both companies will be there at
the conference to meet everyone. Thanks to both for
their

Our Non-Profit Partners Are Changing the World
|
|
Carol Madsen is a Founding Director and
President of
AlliancExchange, a 501(c)3 nonprofit which provides
scholarships so rainforest children in Ecuador can
attend high school. Carol has had an extensive
career in both the private and public sectors
and has had her own consulting firm for over 20
years.
She and a group of women founded
AlliancExchange
in 2003 and have
helped organizations and communities throughout
Ecuador with start-up funds, grants for revolving loans,
and educational support.
In the past 2 years they have send 17 young
people to
secondary school with the help of other nonprofits,
individual donors and fundraising
events. Carol is thankful that AlliancExchange's
share
of the proceeds from the Conference's Silent Auction
will go directly to help the young
people of Ecuador - future caretakers of the rainforest
and their culture. (Click Veronica's picture for more
info on
AlliancExchange)
Blackstone Valley Womenaid, Inc. is an all-
volunteer
non-profit organization of dedicated women raising
private funds - "charitable gap funding" - for
short term
need-based financial assistance for families living in
the 11 Blackstone Valley communities who do not
qualify for other funding sources with the goal of
keeping them healthy and in their homes.
Founder Joonu Coste says, " We work with
verifiers
from social service agencies, charities, schools,
churches, etc, to identify and validate requests for
assistance.
All requests and donations are made anonymously
and the average turn around time is 48 hours. Once a
request has been approved by the board, the
money
is paid directly to the vendor or collecting agent.
We
approve one request per family per year, up to $500."
(for more information go to QuickLinks)
All proceeds from our Conference Silent Auction
will
go to Blackstone Valley WomenAid and
AlliancExchange.
In addition, Carol and Joonu will be teaming up to
lead a Workshop on Friday about how to take
your "passion to make a difference" and turn it into
a
non-profit organization.
