Greetings!

Welcome to the March Newsletter for the Dream Factory, a community of women entrepreneurs who are committed to living their personal and professional dreams.

We will introduce you to ideas and opportunities that will support you in taking on your life, your work, and your world.

March is the month when you need extreme self- care. With all the cold and snow, it is important to stay connected to your inner passions, your friends, family and your community of support.

The member featured this month at the Women in Business Luncheon is Dot Mitchell, RN., of Laser Skincare Solutions. She has been treating people of all ages and concerns, and has discovered that when you make changes on the outside, it affects how you feel on the inside. She will discuss, "Self- Esteem at Any Age".

For Ladies Night Out, we will present a Retreat for your Feet in Natick. NIa instructor, Donna McGurk, is joining forces with reflexologist, Julia Dollinger--to energize, delight and relax you, through dance and reflexology, a form of foot massage.

The Women in Business Luncheon is on Thursday, March 12th, 12-2 at the Aegean Restaurant in Framingham.

Ladies Night Out is March 17th, 7:30- 9:30pm at Beyond Fitness, 5 Summer St., Natick, MA.

Please join us for both or one of these events.

Nancy

Self-Esteem at Any Age by Dot Mitchell, RN

It started years ago when I was a pediatric nurse. I noticed that people, especially children and teens could exhibit an altered self-esteem with small changes in their appearance.

Having facial blemishes could have a lasting negative effect on the way they see themselves.

Self-esteem issues can occur at any age, so in the business of health and beauty, it is vital to take a look at the entire person, not just the spot, the acne blemish, or the wrinkle.

Since I have been involved in caring for people having laser or skin care treatments, I have found that the best way take care of someone is to let them tell me why they have come for a visit, listen to everything they have to say and evaluate with them what makes sense relative to how effective a treatment can be and the costs involved.

I have found that treating the changes on the outside can affect how one feels on the inside. (for more information on treatments, click on Dot's picture)

The most exciting thing about treating people of all ages in the health and beauty industry, is the inspiration I get in seeing how small changes can make a big difference in the way clients feel about themselves.

To find out more about boosting your own self- esteem, come hear Dot speak at the next Women in Business on March 17th.

The JOY of NIA by Donna McGurk, Brown Belt in NIA
Donna McGurk.jpeg sm

I have always loved to move, but somewhere in marriage, job and family, exercise had become a chore, one more item on a list of to do's.

Then one day I saw a calendar listing for "Nia- Barefoot Dance, done to world music." I took a chance on a class and I was hooked on Nia. I remembered why I loved to dance and move.

More than just dance, Nia incorporates the power and precision of the martial arts with the alignment and ease of healing arts like yoga and the Alexander Technique. (To see Nia-in-Action Video, just click on my picture.)

During each class I felt stronger, freer, happier, and after Nia class I found the joy of movement carried into the rest of my life, eventually leading me to become certified as a Nia instructor.

In each of my own Nia classes, I choose a focus to bring attention to a certain body part or way of moving. Each class is an opportunity for students to have new awareness - perhaps of open hearts; or soft, easy knees; or flexible spines; or of the stillness within motion.

Every focus brings new discoveries and every discovery is unique to the students in the class. The thread running through all the classes is the sense of joy and pleasure.

To experience the joy of Nia for yourself, come to the Ladies Night Out on Tuesday, March 17th at 7:30pm. You will enjoy a fun-filled Nia class, then end in blissful relaxation with certified reflexologist, Julia Dollinger.

What JOY!

A Treat For Your Feet!! by Julia Dollinger, Certified Reflexologist

Stress is a sad fact of our times. Because of this stress, our energy systems in our body get blocked which can result in pain, illness, and chronic discomfort.

Reflexology works to help alleviate these symptoms. It is a non-invasive complementary modality involving the use of alternating pressure applied to the reflex maps of the feet, hands and outer ears. By applying pressure using the thumb, finger, and hand, the body balances and energizes itself. (For more information on Reflexology just click on my picture.)

Reflexology has 3 R's:

  1. Releases tension
  2. Relaxes the systems of the body
  3. Rejuvenates and Balances the body, mind and spirit

I was a client first and realized what a difference it made in my life and wanted to learn more about it, so I went to school and became certified. What a change this work has made for my life!

Treat yourself to one of the most energizing and relaxing hoursof your life. Join me for Ladies Night Out on March 17th.

You only have to take off your shoes and you will experience how to put your best foot forward.

The Power of Being a CDO (Chief Dream Officer)
DFC Poster

The Dream Factory produces CDO's, people who can create their dreams. Everyone who joins the community receives a free CDO Training. During those trainings, our members are always generating their own plans and new ideas about what it means to be a CDO.

When asked the characteristcs of a CDO, they said Chief Dream Officers:

  • Are Centered
  • Are Good Communicators/ Able to Enroll Others
  • Are Invested in the Journey, not just the Destination
  • Have a Clear Vision
  • Are Committed and Disciplined
  • Have Confidence, Faith, Belief
  • Are Focused, Responsible, Accountable
  • Have a Plan & Allow for Things to Unfold
  • Ask for What They Want!
  • Own their Gifts

One of our recently graduated CDO's Robyn Wolensky was so excited about her CDO Training, that she created a video testimonial. (Click the Dream Factory sign above to see it.)
