...all proceeds will go toward the construction of an East Texas safe home for young girls that have fallen victim to human trafficking

Saturday October 8th 10am-4pm BERGFELD PARK in Tyler |
The Smith County Commissioners Court has declared October 8th, Human Trafficking Awareness Day. Refuge of Light is hosting their first annual 'Children Are Pricele$$' Rally that day...a family friendly event. Attractions include: craft booths, face painting, jump houses, food, balloon art, live music, speakers, child fingerprinting kits provided by the Tyler Police Department and much, much more.
Learn about the tricks and lures of trafficking and how to keep your children safe. Human Trafficking is the 2nd largest & fastest growing criminal activity in the world. It is estimated that 70% of the homeless youth in the United States are exploited by commercial sex operations within 48 hours of running away. |
Refuge of Light hosted a rummage sale, silent auction and craft bazaar September 17th in Palestine, TX. It was an overwhelming success with the help of local churches, volunteers and a special appearance by Tyler's very own 'Fly Kids'. The event generated over $16,000 to go toward the construction of an East Texas safe home for young girls victimized by human sex trafficking.
A special thank you to all who contributed with monetary and in-kind donations....and to all our volunteers who worked tirelessly before, during and after the event! |
