New Programs in Indianola and Des Moines |
|
Everybody Wins! Iowa is excited to announce our expansion into Indianola. Next fall, we will begin mentoring programs at four Indianola elementary schools. The programs will be in Emerson, Irving, Whittier and Wilder Elementary Schools with a goal of working with at least 100 new students in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. This means that we are looking for more than 100 new volunteer reading mentors in Indianola. Everybody Wins! Iowa is also starting programs at the Downtown School and King Elementary School in Des Moines.
If you or someone you know would like to volunteer at any of our new or existing schools, please visit our website, everybodywinsiowa.org or email volunteer@everybodywinsiowa.org.
We also need book carts filled with books for each of our new schools. At Everybody Wins! Iowa, we want to make reading fun. Every child deserves the opportunity to read new and popular books so we want to purchase all new books for the book carts at our new schools. Funding a new program costs money, but it is worth it to bring the joy of reading into the life of a child. We appreciate both large and small donations to help fund this life-changing experience for children.

Prairie Meadows Grant Recieved |
 | | Amanda Fletcher (Executive Director) and Skyla Tracy (Volunter Coordinator) with members of the Prairie Meadows Board of Directors |
Everybody Wins! Iowa recently received a $5,000 "Community Betterment" grant from Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino. The grant funds will be used to buy books and book carts and to perform background checks for new mentors as we develop new Power Lunch programs. Prairie Meadows has made it a part of their mission to give back to the community. This grant will help bring together citizens, businesses and students in the community and bolster the reading skills of younger students to instill a love of reading in these children. |
