Where on Earth is Pastor Eric?

Eric Flood 2011 You won't find me preaching, in my office, or leading a ministry at SPC during August. That's because I'll be on campus at Asbury Theological Seminary in Lexington, Kentucky. I've been accepted into the Beeson Pastor's Program. Think of it as a pastoral fellowship that is providing tuition and other resources towards a Doctor of Ministry.

I'll be building friendships with about a dozen pastors from across the country for rejuvenation, renewal, and retooling. We've already completed about 5,000 pages of reading that covers leadership, spiritual formation, and pastoral theology. Now we'll be learning in person from some of the authors of those books in classroom discussion, retreats, and writing.

I've been blessed repeatedly by your words of encouragement as I start this adventure. And I trust that it will help me be the best pastor I can be for SPC for years to come. Please join me in praying for the following:

  • That I might have eagerness to learn what God wants to teach me.
  • That strong friendships might form with other pastors in the program.
  • That I might have wisdom in applying what I learn to our church.
  • That I might experience joy in the adventure.
  • That God would watch over my family and draw us all close through this experience.
  • That our church would grow as each of us fills our special role.
  • To be guided by Scripture in your prayers, see Colossians 1:9-12

Facility Renovation Update

Facility Renovation Update Membership votes have been counted and we are excited to share that the ballot passed for leadership to go forward in planning for the Facility Renovation.  142 votes were received - 135 yes' and 7 no's which totals 95% affirmation!

Our next step will be meeting with the architect.  Different ministry leaders and volunteers will soon be scheduled to be interviewed, giving them an opportunity for input.  In January, the leadership will be sharing the vision of the renovation and will launch the campaign.

Thank you for your trust in the leadership and for being a part of this exciting time in SPC History!

Operation Christmas Child

OCC:  Christmas in July

Thanks to everyone for making OCC's first-ever Christmas in July campaign such a great success! Not only did you donate amazing items to start our campaign off, but we had over 50 women join together to sew over 75 beautiful pillowcase dresses for little girls in need! What a blessing! Our next pillowcase dress-making event will be on Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 9 am until 3 pm ... drop in for a time of sewing and fellowship. No need to know how to sew to get involved. Bring family members and friends! Since we'll be running OCC through the 3rd week of November, please continue to bring in items for shoeboxes and supplies for the pillowcase dresses: new or gently-used pillowcases (solid, prints-really anything looks adorable!, 1/2" wide elastic and 1/2" extra wide double fold bias tape (any and all colors) and trims. Drop items off at the Welcome Center any time. Please pray for the 8 million children who will receive their shoebox of hope during this campaign!

Kick-off:  Sunday, September 9, 2012

Kick-Off 2012 Kick-Off Sunday 2012: Sept. 9, 2012

One Service at 10:45 a.m.

Car Show, Free Food, Fun 12 - 3 p.m.

The Great Restoration... Why do people go through the trouble of restoring a classic car? Something of great value isn't thrown away; it is restored. The more valuable something is, the greater the attention to detail. Beyond a new paint job, the engine and its parts are cleaned, repaired, or replace. Believe it or not, that's how God sees us. You're valuable... unique... worth restoring. We'll be learning more about God's great restoration process this fall.

SPC Family: Online Community Coming Soon...

SPC will be launching a new online community soon! This is a place to connect with the family and community of South Park Church. Find groups, connect with friends, volunteer and check your schedules. Stay tuned for more information soon!
