Women's Minsitry Bible Studies
Digging Deeper, Growing Together
by Julie Kittredge & Diana O'Brien

The Women's Ministry team is committed to providing opportunities for women to be nurtured in their relationships with God, their families and each other. To that end, we are excited to do something a bit different in 2012 beginning with our winter Bible Study.

In order to create a consistent and nurturing atmosphere where women can build relationships, share openly, and grow in a safe environment, we plan to create more committed discussion groups within our Bible Study offerings. Beginning with our upcoming study, Here and Now ... There and Then, a lecture series on the book of Revelation by Beth Moore, we plan to arrange a small group setting that will remain consistent through the remainder of the year. We encourage those who are already part of a small group to sign up together. If you are not already part of a small group, we will do our best to strategically place you in a group according to your needs.  We hope that by committing to each other in this way, strong bonds will grow and blessed fellowship will result.

The Women's Ministry leadership is excited to partner with small group discussion leaders to train and equip them so that they can best serve and mentor women on their faith journeys.  If you're interested in partnering with Women's Ministry by being a small group discussion leader, please contact Becky Flood at bflood@southparkchurch.org.

We are also thrilled to announce that we will be offering daytime and evening sessions of the the Winter Beth Moore study. The daytime study will run from 9:30 until 11:30 am, and the evening study will run from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Both sessions will be held on Thursdays and run from January 12th through March 22nd (please note that childcare will not be offered for either session).  This study is an unique one for Beth as there is only one day of homework per week.

If you are interested in signing up for the study, please stop by the Welcome Center through January 8th. The fee is $15.   Signing up for the Winter Study does not commit you to a year of studies, we will continue to take registrations for each study.  You are welcome to join at any time your schedule allows through the year.
We look forward to growing in Christ with you.

Our featured speaker is Lisa Ballantine, Chief Executive Officer & Director of Filter Pure.  Filter Pure manufactures and distributes an improved and inexpensive "point of use" water filtration device that is producible in developing countries.  Lisa is a Chicago area native and has been married to Michael for 24 years. They have raised four children and now enjoy their first grandson.

A year of missions work to the Dominican Republic in 2000 transformed her family and fueled her interest in the need to bring clean water to the world.  She had learned about ceramic water filtration and was interested in learning the technology.   After returning to the US, Lisa began art classes at Northern Illinois University and consulted with the Technical Advisor for Potters for Peace, one of her professors.  She later returned to the Dominican Republic where her low cost water purification device was further developed and is currently being used in countries around the world.

Lisa first felt God nudging her toward serving Him by serving others while involved in the drama ministry at South Park Church many years ago.  She has loved being used by God in changing the world - one cup of water at a time.
