PARENTS

Quarter 3 report cards were given to K-8th grade students today to take home.
Please check with your student today, after school.

DEAR PARENTS,

Beginning in October 2011 there were over $15,000 in unpaid Student Fees needing collection.  While extensive man hours and supplies have been spent to reduce that amount, understand there still remains thousands in outstanding fees.  Collections are not only costly to TPCA, but exhaust much of our Office Staff's valuable time.

It is important to remember that per contract (for services provided) the school district retains $355 for each full time student enrolled at TPCA, which translated to $318,288 less in General Fund revenue for our school to operate on this school year.  Due to decreased state funding, this amount is projected to increase next year to an additional $130 per student, which at projected enrollment would be an additional $135,126 less in operating revenue.  This reduction could become potentially even more should the state legislature find the need to pass a rescission.

TPCA asks that each family make an effort to be responsible for their student fees.
Please contact the Student Registrar - Marilyn Putrah to make your payment or contact
Michele Mansanares in the Business Office to schedule payment arrangements.
Once payment has been made your Parent Portal access will be reactivated and Progress Reports/Report Cards will be distributed.

Thank You,

TPCA Business Office

TCAP

formerly CSAP

Dear parents,

Starting the week of March 12 through to March 21 students in grades three to ten will be participating in TCAP (Transitional Colorado Assessment Program). Please view the attached schedule so that you know when your child will be testing. When viewing the schedule, the first number represents the grade level, the letter represents the test (W-Writing, R-Reading. M-Math, S-Science), and the final number represents the test session.

Please help your child do their best by making sure they get plenty of rest each night (March 11 is daylight savings time), eat a good breakfast, and arrive to school on time. Please do not schedule non-emergency appointments during the TCAP testing window as front office staff will not be calling students out of test sessions.

Students do their best when testing with their peers, as opposed to testing in make-up situations. With your support our students will demonstrate their true potential.

To download the schedule please click on TCAP SCHEDULE

From Lori West

Parents,

We will celebrate College Friday

with the rest of the state on Friday, April 6.

If you have college posters or pennants to donate to the High School Counseling  Office, let me know.

Also, you may contact the alumni office of your post-secondary institution to ask them for some free student give aways such as pens, pencils, or stickers. This is a great way for your old school to do some low cost advertising. If you need a formal letter on school letterhead to make the request.

I'm happy to supply that for you.

HIGH SCHOOL

 Are you in need of

Service Learning Hours?

Here is a great opportunity: Help clean up the drainage ditches in Longmont before the spring snow melt and water release comes our way.

Twin Peaks Students Set New Reading Record

Our students in grades K-6 read a total of 1,767,844 minutes during the Reading Challenge. We celebrated our success by dressing up as our favorite book characters on Thursday,

March 8. Because we exceeded our original goal by 767,844 minutes, all three
administrators dressed up. Mr. Buchman was Peter Pan, Mr. Finn was Hook, and Mrs. Feeney

was Wendy.

Our celebration culminated with assemblies in which the two highest-minutes readers in each class were recognized with a certificate and their choice of a book. Thanks to the generous donations of our sponsors, Cindy Miller Insurance Agency and Stapp Interstate Toyota-Scion, we were able to have drawings for a Leapster Explorer and two Kindles.

The winner K-2 of the Leapster Explorer was Aaron Tobias. Max Allen (grades 3-5) and

Angel Jaime (6th grade) also won Kindles at the assemblies.

Each week, we strive to give you the best and most informative Howl and Volunteer Newsletter.

Articles are submitted to us from teachers, staff, parent volunteers, and area businesses or agencies.

At times there may be incorrect grammar or misspellings.

Please forgive us. We work toward communicating various types of information in a timely manner.
