Each week, you will find numerous fun activities, great fundraisers, recognitions and cool volunteer opportunities. 

 Opportunities may also appear in the Howl or Thursday folders.

This week...

 VOLUNTEER REQUESTS:

  1. Second grade teacher, Stephanie Jarvis, needs help with a sewing project. She needs 52 chair packs made and has all the materials and a sample chair pack. If you would like to help, please contact her at  jarvis_stephanie@svvsd.org.
  2. Looking for volunteers who can work one hour shifts during this year's Reading Challenge book fair.

    Thursday, February 9th, 2:00-8:00

    Friday, February 10th, 2:00 - 7:00

  3.  We are looking for experienced, licensed contractors (plumbing, electrical, etc) for occasional volunteer projects. Contact Mic Finn for details finn_mic@svvsd.org.
  4. Need parents to help with student check out.

    Tuesdays:         3:00 to 3:15

    Thursdays:        3:00 to 3:15

    Fridays:            3:00 to 3:15

  5. The second grade team needs volunteers to put reading level stickers on their books.  Please contact Michelle Kempkes at pariskempkes_michell@svvsd.org.  
  6. Special Request: the first grade team is asking all parents for donations of new or gently used books for our classroom libraries.  Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Contacte Leandra Caseuneva at casanueva_leandra@svvsd.org.
  7. The Marketing committee is looking for a volunteer who is efficient in Mac design software, specifically, PAGES, to revise the parent-student handbook.  This is a perfect "at home" volunteer opportunity. Contact Kathy DeMatteo at kmdematteo@comcast.net.
  8. We are looking for volunteer grant writers. Contact Kathy DeMatteo at kmdematteo@comcast.net.

Box Tops for Education

 
Twin PeaksCharterAcademy and FlagstaffAcademy are racing again! Collect and turn in your Box Tops for Education to support TPCA.  The school that collects the most Box Tops by the end of the year will get a treat from the opposing school.

 

We are also having another popcorn party contest. The elementary class and middle school/high school class that collects the most Box Tops by February 18th will win a popcorn party.  All Box Tops turned in count towards both contests.

Logowear orders 
 
Deadline for orders is Monday, January 23, 2012. Forms are located in the front lobby. Orders will be delivered the third week in February.

Infinite Campus Tips

Many parents have been calling in to say that either they or their student cannot access Infinite

Campus. Here are some things to consider:

 

1) Are you using the correct username and password? If you try to log in three times, your

account will automatically be disabled. Please write down your username and password and leave it in a safe place. If you have lost it, please contact Beverly Weinberg.

 

2) Do you have any outstanding fees? Contact Michele Mansanares in the business/finance

office to find out if this is why your IC is disabled, and to set up payment options.

 

3) If #1 and #2 are not the issue, please contact Beverly Weinberg. She will need to contact the

district to remedy the problem.

 

IC is not a planner so it won't show future assignments. All elementary and middle school

students received planners in August (or when they enrolled), and high school students have the

option to purchase planners. Please encourage and work with your child to use the planner to

track assignments.

The Marketing committee invites you to TOUR our new WEB SITE! More information, Great Pictures, and Easier Navigation. The Admissions Tab now has the Lottery forms for your friends and neighbors to fill out ONLINE! Our Students are highlighted through photos and links to teacher pages and sports pages.  

Lottery Meetings for 2012-13 School Year
Mark your calendars. New Applicants must attend a Lottery meeting prior to enrollment and will be offered a full school tour and plenty of information on what to expect the first year.

Recruitment for 2012-2013 starts with YOU! Free TPCA stickers for your car, new web site to share with friends and neighbors, Lottery meetings beginning in January.   
Reserved Parking
Each month, we select three Volunteers of the Month.  One of the perks as Volunteer of the Month is that they are assigned one of the designated Reserved Parking spaces. Although it may be tempting to park in one of these spaces, we ask that you leave them open for the person whose name is on the sign.
