 RUSH HOUR CHARACTER EDUCATION PERFORMENCE

FOR TPCA STUDENTS GRADES K - 6

This next week, December 7, Twin Peaks will be hosting performances at 1:30 p.m.  (Grades K-2) and 2:15 p.m. (Grades 3-6) in the Commons by an organization called the Rush Hour. The Rush Hour uses character traits, referred to as "virtues," as the foundation of it's programming and reinforces these virtues through music, song, drama and storytelling performance.
The Rush Hour Organization decided to create a unique assembly geared for the elementary-aged children to address the real problem of bullying in the local schools. This performance will use the virtue of respect as the foundation of their message, which they define as; "showing others they are important by what you say and do."
The Rush Hour  performances will be taking place in multiple SVVSD Elementary schools December  7 - 9. Phillip Christian, Executive Producer of the Rush Hour Program and support staff as well as students from all over the SVVSD have performed over 300 local shows in the Longmont/tri-towns area as well as on the national stage at a family conference in Atlanta,GA. Phillip and the performers are excited to tackle and educate a Parents are encouraged to attend one or both of the scheduled Twin Peaks PBS performances.
For more information about Rush Hour, the tour, and the virtues, please visit: www.rushhourcolorado.com or call Marie Dudrey at 303-652-6894

READING CHALLENGE

Attention ALL TPCA students and parents.

The 1,000,000 Minutes Reading Challenge is coming your way!

Beginning next Monday, December 5, all TPCA students K-6 will begin recording the number of minutes they read every day. These minutes can include minutes students read by themselves, minutes students read to others, or minutes someone reads to them. Our goal is for EVERY student to read 30 minutes a day, five days a week, including over Christmas break.

If our school meets the 1,000,000 minutes goal by February 24, then Mr. Buchmann will dress up as someone/something special for an entire school day. The only way to find out what that special thing/person will be is to meet our goal! Every other week prizes will be given out for the class with the highest number of minutes read during the previous two weeks.

Watch out! Other fun activities and prizes are coming your way!

So, everybody get ready to READ!
