PRIME AMERICA ANNOUNCES RELOCATION OF EDISON, NJ TERMINAL WAREHOUSE
|

Prime America has announced the relocation of the company's New Jersey based terminal warehouse.
The new facility, located in South Brunswick, NJ, offers 4 docks and up to 29,000 square feet and will be able to accommodate the company's growing warehousing and fulfillment endeavors. What is particularly beneficial about the facility is that it is located within a foreign-trade zone (read more about the user benefits of foreign-trade zones in the article below). The facility will remain under the management of Steve Pridgeon, Terminal Manager at Prime.
According to Mike Katyal, Prime America's President, the facility will open up new business for the company and work to the advantage of the current clientele. "We have already increased our Sales Team in the area to generate new business; though, the move is more so that we can better provide warehousing and fulfillment services to current customers."
Prime America hopes to be fully settled into the new location by the end of August 2012.

| CLIENT TESTIMONIAL |
Let me first say that the #1 thing I like about Prime America is that I NEVER have to worry, which makes my job easier. When I award a shipment to Prime, I know it will picked up and delivered on time and that all the proper documentation will be completed in a timely manner. I have NEVER had a problem with anyone or anything at Prime. [Prime's] web site is very user friendly for tracking shipments and auditing invoices. The fact that [Prime] scans the documents showing signatures has helped numerous times in resolving issues with some of our vendors. I would highly recommend Prime America to anyone who wants a seamless operation with his or her shipping.

THE BENEFITS OF CONSOLIDATING IN A
FOREIGN-TRADE ZONE
|

At Prime America Logistics, Inc. we take the meaning of "efficiency" seriously. We pride ourselves in our ability to consolidate services by offering customized freight and warehouse management programs to fit the needs of your business. By using Prime America as your freight, logistics, and warehousing provider, your business can meet customer distribution demands, while controlling warehouse and overhead costs. Read on to explore how our Foreign-Trade Zone status at our South Brunswick, NJ Terminal Warehouse can further help your business streamline costs in the U.S. and global markets.
WHAT IS A FOREIGN TRADE ZONE?
A foreign-trade zone is a designated site licensed by the Foreign-Trade Zones (FTZ) Board at which special customs procedures may be used. These procedures allow domestic activity involving foreign items to take place prior to formal customs entry. Duty-free treatment is accorded items that are re-exported and duty payment is deferred on items sold in the U.S. market, thus offsetting customs advantages available to overseas producers who compete with producers located in the United States.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
CUSTOMS DUTY ELIMINATION
- Goods may be imported into, and then exported from, a zone without the payment of duty and excise taxes except to certain countries (NAFTA), in which case any applicable duty and excise tax will be levied.
- Goods may also be imported into, and subsequently destroyed in a zone without the payment of duty and excise taxes.
CUSTOMS DUTY REDUCTION (INVERTED TARIFFS)
- In certain instances, there are tariff (import duty) relationships that actually penalize companies for making their product in the United States.
- This occurs when a component item or raw material carries a higher duty rate than the finished product. Hence, the importer of the finished product pays a lower duty rate than a manufacturer of the same product in the United States.
- This gives the importer an unfair and unintended advantage over the domestic manufacturer.
- The Foreign-Trade Zone program levels the playing field in these circumstances.
CUSTOMS FEE REDUCTIONS (WEEKLY ENTRY SAVINGS)
- Under Weekly Entry procedures, the zone user files only one Customs Entry per week, rather than filing one Customs Entry per shipment.
- Customs no longer has to process an entry for each and every shipment being imported into the zone, and the Foreign-Trade Zone community no longer has to pay for the processing of each and every entry.
- Companies located outside Foreign-Trade Zones pay a 21% merchandise processing for each and every formal entry processed by U.S. Customs.
- There is a minimum $25 processing and a maximum $485 processing fee per Entry, regardless of the duty rate on the imported merchandise. The maximum processing fee is reached for Entries (shipments) with a value over $230,952.
DEFERRAL OF CUSTOMS DUTY PAYMENT
- Duty and federal excise tax are paid only when merchandise is transferred from a zone to the Customs territory of the U.S. or transferred to a NAFTA country (Canada and Mexico).
NO TIME CONSTRAINTS ON STORAGE
- Merchandise may remain in a zone indefinitely, whether or not it's subject to duty.
