PRIME CELEBRATES FIRST ANNUAL HOLIDAY EVENT

On December 3, Prime America employees were finally able to put names to faces as the company celebrated its first annual holiday party. Due to the fact that Prime has five warehouse terminals located throughout the country, the event was a successful way for everyone to meet the Terminal Managers and enjoy each other in a casual setting.

The event began at Prime's corporate office where food, drinks, and mingling were in abundance. Guests enjoyed holiday gifts, raffles, and kind words from Prime's President/CEO, Mike Katyal. From there, the group took a corporate bus down to the back lot of Universal Studios where everyone was treated to a private movie screening.

"I felt that everyone had a fabulous time," said Brittany Lawson, Prime's Marketing Specialist and catalyst behind the event. "It was wonderful getting to meet the Terminal Managers in person given that we speak to them on a daily basis."

Overall, the event was much talked about and will set precedent for future holiday get-togethers.

BE ON THE SAFE SIDE THIS SEASON: TIPS FOR A SAFER HOLIDAY

With the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it seems that there's never enough time to get everything done. It's important, though, to make sure that safety doesn't get left off the list: during the holiday season, fires cause a 34% greater dollar loss and holiday decorating injuries send more than 14,000 to the emergency room. Prime America recommends the following safety tips to keep this season joyful.

  1. Water, water, water your tree.
Dry trees pose a fire risk - make a fresh cut on the base before putting your tree into a sturdy stand, and water frequently.
  2. Check your lights, check them twice.
Inspect all of your electric lights and decorations for damage or wear. Cracked sockets, frayed or bare wires and loose connections may pose a fire or shock hazard.
  3. Plan your fire escape.
Use the holidays as a good time to practice a fire escape plan with your loved ones. Identify at least two exits from every room in the house.
  4. Sleep safe: Install carbon monoxide alarms.
Be sure that at least one carbon monoxide alarm is installed on each floor of your home, and always close to sleeping areas.
  5. Be flame aware.
Always blow out unattended candles and teach your children to stay away from lit candles or fireplaces.
  6. Give wrapping paper a second life.
Don't burn used wrapping paper as it may cause intense flash fires. And throwing it out adds waste. Consider recycling or repurposing it instead.
  7. Know your lights and cords.
Do not connect more than three miniature light strings together. Also, be sure to check the rating on your extension cords and do not plug in more than the recommended wattage.
  8. Steer your tree clear.
Your tree should be positioned at least three feet away from fireplaces, radiators and other heat sources. It should also not block any doorways or exits.
  9. Decorate with a safe eye.
Cords should not be run under carpets or tacked-up with metal nails or staples. Small decorations can be choking hazards so keep them out of the reach of toddlers.
  10. Look for UL.
The UL Mark appears on products that have been tested for safety. Make sure to look for it to help keep your holidays safe and bright.

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: GURNAM SINGH AWARDED

PRIME AMERICA'S 2011 EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR

Mike Katyal, Prime America President/CEO presenting Gurnam Singh with
2011 Employee of the Year Award

Gurnam Singh has been recognized as Employee of the Year for his outstanding dedication as a Prime America employee. Gurnam works as the Terminal Manager at Prime's Santa Fe Springs, CA warehouse terminal. His coworkers would say that the recognition was much overdue. Most would describe him as being an extremely hard working individual who always goes above and beyond to help anyone in need.

Gurnam has been with Prime since 1997 when he was hired as a driver for the company. Since then, he has worked his way up to Terminal Manager and has become more a family member than an employee. He hopes to continue making a difference at Prime America.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading and relaxing.

In recognition of and appreciation for his outstanding commitment and service to Prime America Logistics, Inc., we honor Gurnam Singh.
