Prime America

Welcomes New Sales Members!

Prime America Logistics, Inc. is pleased to welcome 3 new additions to the Prime America team this month--Eddie Goodwin, Michael Harrigan, and David "Junior" Maldonado.

They have joined the California based Sales Team as Account Managers, working alongside existing Senior Account Manager, Jayme Wolf, and under President, Mike Katyal.

"Prime is committed to building a world-class sales team," says Katyal, "Michael, Eddie, and Junior possess the talent and experience we need in order to create partnerships with new clientele."

Each of the 3 Account Managers will be responsible for their own territory:

  1. Michael will be servicing North San Fernando Valley
  2. Eddie will be servicing South East Los Angeles
  3. Junior will be servicing the Inland Empire

Michael has a background in trucking, having previously held positions with Matheson Trucking and Vitran Logistics. He feels that he has first hand experience in what customers need and expect and feels confident in his ability to provide outstanding service.

Eddie is a sales veteran. He began his career at Xerox working in inside sales and then transitioned into selling cellular service at AT&T. He gained his knowledge of the shipping world after holding a position at Roadway since 2003.

Junior has worked in the industry since 1988, starting his career as a local driver. He has experience in almost every facet of logistics.

All feel confident in their ability to uphold the Prime America customer service standard.

Diesel Has Biggest Leap in Almost Two Years -

End Products' Cost Could Increase Accordingly

Diesel jumped 14.3 cents to $3.716 a gallon, its 13th straight weekly gain, the Department of Energy said on Monday, February 28th. The diesel increase--the biggest since a 14.6 cent spike on June 8, 2009--leaves trucking's mail fuel 85.5 cents over the same week last year, DOE said following its weekly survey of filling stations.

Diesel is its highest level since October 2008 when it was in retreat from its record high of $45.764 a gallon, set on July 14, 2008.

Oil prices have also spiked, touching $100 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange in intraday trading for the first time in more than two years on concerns about Middle East political upheaval.

What does this mean for the trucking industry? Trucking firms could see their biggest rate increases in years in 2011, and coupled with rising equipment prices, end products' costs could increase accordingly, USA Today has reported.

After falling from 2007 to 2009, trucking rates edged up 2% last year and could surge in coming weeks in advance of Easter retail sales. USA Today cited tighter capacity, higher equipment costs, and fuel prices as factors pushing rates higher.
