Prime America
Optimistic About Company Growth

Prime America Logistics, Inc. has outlined its long term strategy for growing the business and, in line with these plans, expects to achieve impeccable sales growth and expansion for the full year of 2011.
Prime America will attain future growth in several ways. Firstly, through the addition of sales representatives in Southern California. "We have already begun to grow our sales department, and we will continue to look for qualified individuals throughout the month of February," says Mike Katyal, President of Prime America. "Integrity, drive, focus, and honesty-these are the requisite elements we look for in members who wish to become a successful part of the Prime America team."
Secondly, the company anticipates growth by expanding local fleet and logistics partnerships throughout the U.S. and Canada. "Partnerships are what enable Prime to make continuous improvements," says Katyal, "and meaningful partnerships are the foundation for our success." By allocating with others, the company can direct its resources and capabilities to its core business and projects considered to be the most important.
Thirdly, by putting heavy focus on the programming of the company's custom software applications. This will allow the company to improve and automate business processes. "By programming our ASP .net applications, Prime will have an operating efficiency that will give us a competitive advantage in the market. We currently have 3 programmers on task," Katyal says.
Finally, by increasing the company's brand awareness by developing marketing material and utilizing social networks. "We are officially established on Facebook and Twitter, and we encourage customer feedback through these venues," says Katyal. The underlying communication technology within Twitter has become very useful for the company, allowing customers to see instant updates and have access to daily freight discounts from Prime.
2011 is planned to be a banner year for the growth of Prime. With these new strategies in place, it seems Prime America's growth forecasts may well be achievable. |

Obama Signs (DERA)
Diesel Emissions Reduction Act
President Barack Obama signed the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act of 2010; a new law that will help communities reduce diesel pollution and improve public health throughout the nation. The DERA, as it's known in the diesel world, authorizes $500 million in diesel clean-up funds over the next five years. The act is popular for many reasons, 2 of which stand out.
First, DERA has been popular because of the obvious need to clean up the dirty diesel engines in our midst. Older diesel buses and trucks spew out huge amounts of soot that triggers asthma attacks and emergencies, bronchitis, cancer, and premature deaths, as well as nitrogen oxides that are a key contributor to our smog problems in the summertime.
Today, we have the technology to eliminate at least 90 percent of this pollution with advanced pollution controls that are standard equipment on new engines. DERA helps get these technologies on thousands of older, dirty diesels that still have years of service left.
The second, and perhaps more important, reason is that DERA is incredibly cost-effective, and it brings these cost-effective health benefits to every state in the nation, thanks to an effective, competitive allocation process. Every dollar spent by the DERA program to reduce diesel pollution yields between $13 and $28 in health benefits - thanks to the reduced asthma emergencies, cancer, premature deaths, and other health benefits of cleaner diesel engines. It's hard to find a better investment in public health.

California:
Due for Massive Superstorm?
A group of more than 100 scientists and experts say in a new report that California faces the risk of a massive "superstorm" that could flood a quarter of the state's homes and cause $300 billion to $400 billion in damage. Researchers point out that the potential scale of destruction in this storm scenario is four or five times the amount of damage that could be wrought by a major earthquake.
It sounds like the plot of an apocalyptic action movie, but scientists with the U.S. Geological Survey warned federal and state emergency officials that California's geological history shows such "superstorms" have happened in the past, and should be added to the long list of natural disasters to worry about in the Golden State.
The threat of a cataclysmic California storm has been dormant for the past 150 years. Geological Survey director Marcia K. McNutt told the New York Times that a 300-mile stretch of the Central Valley was inundated from 1861-1862. The floods were so bad that the state capital had to be moved to San Francisco, and Governor Leland Stanford had to take a rowboat to his own inauguration, the report notes. Even larger storms happened in past centuries, over the dates 212, 440, 603, 1029, 1418, and 1605, according to geological evidence.
The risk is gathering momentum now, scientists say, due to rising temperatures in the atmosphere, which has generally made weather patterns more volatile.
The scientists built a model that showed a storm could last more than 40 days and dump 10 feet of water on the state. The storm would be goaded on by an "atmospheric river" that would more water "at the same rate as 50 Mississippis discharging water into the Gulf of Mexico," according the AP. Winds could reach 125 miles per hour, and landslides could compound the damage, the report notes.
Such a superstorm is hypothetical but not improbable, climate researchers warn. "We think this event happens once every 100 or 200 years or so, which puts it in the same category as our big San Andreas earthquakes," Geological Survey scientist Lucy Jones said in a press release.
Federal and state emergency management officials convened a conference about emergency preparations for possible superstorms recently.
