Although the division is not fully operational, some of Prime's customers have already demanded fulfillment from them, and the outlook has been very promising. "At this point, we are currently fulfilling orders on a daily basis," says Wolf," and we look forward to the prospects this division could bring."

Global Accountability: Reducing Our Tire Print on the Planet |
 | | 53-foot trailer with air deflectors and side skirts |
It is evident that global warming is a very serious topic and we all need to get on board with correcting the problem. Because governments have taken steps to reduce greenhouse emissions, new regulations have been introduced to minimize environment impact. Many industries that have been forced to reduce greenhouse emissions have to rethink many of their business practices in order to correct their direct impact on the environment.
Transportation companies, for instance, are 95% dependent on petroleum products for fuel and are one of the major contributors to global warming. To make matters worse, for the last few years, many of these companies have been dealing with economic challenges and higher fuel prices. On one hand they are dealing with fierce competition, on the other they have to keep up with increased demands from customers and suppliers. Add reduction of greenhouse emissions to their list of demands and know that these companies are facing some serious challenges ahead. Some transportation companies have already begun to pioneer the way to a "greener" future for the industry. Modifications such as using light weight materials in fleet construction, improving aerodynamics to reduce drag, installing more fuel efficient engines, as well as improving transmissions are among some of the more practical adaptation to the unfortunate position the companies are facing. In addition, transportation companies have been looking into fuel optimizing software to improve miles per gallon and empty miles.
Prime America Logistics, Inc. is proud to be one of the companies that have worked to change the industry's "tire print" on the planet. "We are continuously making progress in our efforts to meet EPA standards," according to Ginny Dodd, Fleet Manager at Prime America. "In regards to aerodynamics, most of our trucks exceed federal standards, and we are constantly looking for new ways to be more fuel efficient." Next on the agenda for Prime America's fleet is to add air deflectors and side skirts (see above image) on all of the trailers to further improve fuel mileage and reduce drag. Another interesting strategy they are implementing is to empower their drivers to individually strive for better fuel efficiency through better knowledge of their trucks. "It has been my experience that if a driver loves what they do and knows how their truck performs, better fuel mileage always follows," says Dodd. All of these changes make sense and have resulted in a great deal of attention on fleet performance within the industry.
The transportation industry has been forced address the ways they affect the environment, and many companies have made significant adjustments. It seems that using better equipment, fuel efficient engines, and drivers with knowledge of how to "let the truck do the work" has become a successful combination for a "greener" and more profitable future. Through practical pioneering, the industry is striving to significantly reduce greenhouse emissions, while maintaining a positive return on investment--the ultimate win-win situation.

The Lowdown on LTL: Delivering Smaller Freight, but Bigger Savings |
For any company that has regular shipments that are too big for parcel services but are too small to warrant large freight trucking, less than truckload (LTL) Freight Shipping is just right. Typically, parcel carriers prefer to handle smaller packages that can be broken down into units that weigh less than 150 pounds, LTL Freight Shipping doesn't. Large freight carriers move shipments loaded into semi-trailers between 26 and 53 feet, which requires a substantial amount of freight in order to make this method economical, LTL Freight Shipping is economical because it often does not have such requirements.
The savings are big with LTL Freight Shipping. The rates for LTL Freight Shipping are determined by weight, class, pickup and destination. LTL Freight Shipping carriers usually provide discounted prices in turn for repeat, or regular LTL Freight Shipping pickups and deliveries. Because many business owners don't require full truckload service or have too many packages going out daily for a parcel service, LTL Freight Shipping brings both time and money savings. In this economy, saving money makes more sense. LTL Freight Shipping may be the answer you need to keep your business booming and your products moving. Clicke Here for More Information |
