Greetings!

Welcome to Dog Beach Dog Wash's first Newsletter.  We hope it will be a monthly offering of fun pictures and useful information to help you build a more joyful relationship with your dogs.

We're also joining Facebook and upgrading our website, and we'll be asking you to share your stories and pictures as well.  Please let us know what fun activities you'd like to do with your dogs.

We wish you and your pets a very happy, healthy and clean New Year!
Sincerely,

   Mindy & Jane

An ID Says You Love Them Enough to Want Them Back

ID tag
Every Dog Needs an ID Tag
Even though we suggest that dogs and cats get micro-chipped, and that people keep their chip contact information up to date, we see many lost or found dogs in the Dog Wash that cannot be identified, or quickly reunited with their owners.

At the very least, all dogs should wear a simple collar with an ID Tag at all times.  Now, Dog Beach Dog Wash is able to engrave tags for your dog while you wait.

The tags come in aluminum or brass, in cute styles and colors, and can be engraved on both sides so you can include your dog's license number and additional phone numbers if you wish and eliminate the annoying jangle.  The cost per tag ranges from $5.95 to $7.95, with second side engraving for $1.50.  It takes about 5 minutes once you decide what you want on the tag.  The fewer lines and characters you write, the larger and easier it is to read the tag.

And while your dogs are safe, sign up for HomeAgain Alerts at

by e-mail or on your mobile phone to help others in your neighborhood find their lost pets.

During our monthly Beach Cleanups, we frequently find lost sets of keys.  We hang them on the bulletin board at the beach but many times they're not retrieved.  You might consider having an ID tag (without address) made at the Dog Wash for your key ring so you can skip the worry and aggravation of replacing it.

January is National Train Your Dog Month!
Jamie Bozzi So your dog won't make it on David Letterman's "Stupid Pet Tricks" anytime soon.  But have no regrets.  Your dog can learn to walk nicely on a leash, come when called, sit and stay while you and your family enjoy a relaxing dinner.  Basic dog training should be on your list of New Year's Resolutions.

Jamie Bozzi, professional dog trainer and behavior consultant, will be offering gentle, positive group training classes at Dog Beach Dog Wash for your four-legged kid.  Contact her at http://www.smrtdog.com/ or call 619.246.5634.

Is Your Dog Suffering from Cabin Fever?
Long, cold, wet winter nights can keep you and your dogs house-bound.  Dogs can get bored and participate in destructive behavior.  We have Nina Ottosson dog activity toys that are exciting, fun and tricky to engage you both.

NOttossontoy.jpg
Read Nina's story at http://www.nina-ottosson.com
and check out these clever toys at Dog Beach Dog Wash, in wood or plastic, and sharpen your dog's wits in the New Year.  The upside is that you get to be there with your dog while they figure the puzzles out, and you get to replace the treats while encouraging your canine friends to find them.

wonderful dog community for those who love their       dogs and Dog Beach.

Please feel free to share your pictures & stories, and let us know how we can help make your dogs happier, healthier and cleaner.  You and your dogs really do deserve the best.
