Skills Training Key Ingredient for a Competitive Workforce in a Global Economy |
|
While there were more than 25,380 unemployed residents in Manatee and Sarasota Counties in May 2012, businesses often claim they can't find the right person with the right skills. Now there's a solution. Suncoast Workforce has an On-the-Job Training (OJT) program for employers who hire qualified people who may not have all the knowledge and/or skills required for the position. By hiring a new employee in a training capacity, the company may be reimbursed up to 50 percent of that employee's salary for a short period of time, typically up to six months. Our dedicated Business Services team will screen candidates for your consideration and also assist with a training development plan. Our experience has been that some companies hire individuals that didn't fit all the requirements, being unaware that Suncoast Workforce had funds available to partially offset the new employee's salary during training. All new employees require some training since most companies operate differently. The OJT program may be used to train new employees faster so they can be fully productive more quickly. In addition, training can be an important component for businesses that want to stay competitive in a global market, which benfits both the employer and employee. For more information, please contact Joshua Matlock or call 941.358.4200 ext. 3139. |
