Dear ,
George Washington's birthday is a United States federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February in honor of him being the first President of the United States. The holiday was originally implemented by an Act of Congress in 1880 for government offices in the District of Columbia and expanded in 1885 to include all federal offices. Washington's birthday is also commonly known as President's Day. While government offices are closed today, Suncoast Workforce is open for business!

GWiz Science Center Launches Medical Education Exhibit in March |
What was just a concept more than six months ago is now a reality. GWiz, in collaboration with IVIR, Inc. (Information Visualization and Innovation Research, Inc.) will open "meduzone," the first interactive medical education exhibition on March 2, 2012. "Because healthcare is one of the fastest growing economic drivers in our region, we partnered with IVIR to create meduzone as a nexus for educating our entire community, and not just children, on the latest in medical education technologies and careers available to them," said Molly Demeulenaere, Executive Director of GWiz. Visitors taking the meduzone journey will learn in an informal manner how these technologies are used to train and aid healthcare providers in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of medical conditions along with career opportunities available in the healthcare industry.
"These efforts will educate people about medical education and career paths to fill the increasing trained personnel shortages in the healthcare industry, which will reduce unemployment and encourage young professionals to learn and work here." said John J. Anton, Founder and Chairman of the Board for IVIR, Inc. "meduzone is going to drive adults and children to investigate these career paths," said Anton.
As a side note, the healthcare industry on the Suncoast was the only industry that consistently has added jobs over the year during the last recession. As a result, the vast majority of Suncoast Workforce adult and dislocated worker training is in healthcare-related occupations. |
