CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY CAREERS

PRE-APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM
Building Career Pathways for Youth

CTC Logo
It's been a decade since the sub-contractors Council of the Gulf Coast Builders Exchange, School Districts of Manatee and Sarasota Counties, and Suncoast Workforce collaborated to develop and implement the Construction Technology Careers pre-apprenticeship program for high school youth. Today, the core leadership still includes several founding members ensuring the continuity of CTC's principles and objectives. In 2004, five pre-apprentices completed the two-year comprehensive program. This past year, there were 60 graduates! As the economy is slowly recovering, news articles are projecting shortages of craft professionals. Local businesses with employment opportunities have experienced this evidence already. The CTC program is the first step to provide employers in the construction industry with a pipeline of future workers. To learn more about this program and ways it can be supported, contact Kris Pike, CTC Coordinator at 941.358.4080 ext. 1113.
