NEW DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY |
|
Effective October 1, 2011, Florida's new Department of Economic Opportunity officially becomes the state's one-stop shop for economic and community development. By combining the Agency for Workforce Innovation, Department of Community Affairs and the Governor's Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development, Florida now has a streamlined approach for promoting business and job growth.
The official DEO website is floridajobs.org, which is the same URL previously used by the Agency for Workforce Innovation. The updated and expanded website has a new look, brand and feel, providing access to key subject areas, including:
- Business Growth and Partnerships
- Labor Market Information
- Community Planning and Development
- Job Seekers and Community Services
- Workforce Board Resources
Floridians needing Unemployment Compensation information can still link directly from the new site's front page, and will also have immediate access to a wealth of employment resources. Additionally, the unemployment compensation hotline will remain the same at (800) 204-2418 for questions related to claims.
