  12-WEEK BUSINESS SERIES

Recognized During May 24 Ceremony

CEO Graduation

Twelve entrepreneurs celebrated their accomplishments during a ceremony on May 24 after completing the Community Entrepreneur Opportunity (CEO) program this month. Family, friends, and other supporters, were present as each graduate was recognized. The CEO program is 12-weeks of comprehensive learning and research based on a business plan model for entrepreneurs who desire to start or grow a small business. A total of 109 residents in Manatee and Sarasota counties have graduated to date. Graduates include:Travis Brown, T & J Janitorial Services; Eboni Curry, ENC Stain; Tiffany Duncan, Develop the Power of Vision; Margaret Esaw, Esaw's Elegant Events; Catina Favors, Keyon's Unique Floral Design; Kimberly L. Hill, Haiku Productions; Yolanda Pompey-Williams, Yolanda's Sweet Creations; Machell Proctor, Lady Machell, LLC; Howard Proctor, B2B - Bootleg 2Business; Edward Robinson, Basketball Skills Training; Corinthia Saffo, My Reality Speaks; Charlline Wright, Charlie's Ceramics.  Funding for this 12-week business series was made possible by Comerica Bank, CHASE, and SunTrust Bank. There is no cost for students to attend. Program partners include Newtown/North Sarasota Redevelopment Office of the City of Sarasota, SCORE and Goodwill. We greatly appreciate the support by the CEO program sponsors. We also thank our partners for their time, expertise, and dedication to this program. Congratulations graduates!

 

STRATEGIES TO RECRUIT, TRAIN, AND RETAIN TALENT FOR THE SUNCOAST

Healthcare EventWe are pleased to report that the Bi-County Healthcare Committee's Strategies to Recruit, Train, and Retain Healthcare Professionals for the Suncoast! at USF Sarasota-Manatee campus was a huge success. During this event on May 12, a panel comprised of 14 industry leaders took part in a two hour lively discussion regarding workforce best practices and challenges. Barry Banther, Banther Consulting, moderated the event. A report of key findings will be released in the near future. Suncoast Workforce, in collaboration with CareerEdge, made this event possible.
