August 16, 2012 Greetings Friends, It is great to be back after a wonderful time with family and friends back east. I am such a proud aunt and so grateful for time with family! As I return I am looking forward to many things at Shepherd of the Hills. This fall there will be several new beginnings for both Shepherd sites. (I am going to keep you guessing!) I'll let you know that we as a ministry team have been busy visioning and dreaming about what God will be doing at our sites and in our community. Intrigued? Keep your eyes and ears open! This week both Pastor Craig and I will be sharing a message in the "God: Characters Welcome" series about Samson. Samson is hardly a PG story -- it includes all the great scandals, a strong willed man, a great hair do, and a woman who brings him down by using her attractiveness to her advantage. The story is one that you don't often see on felt boards, and Disney has yet to make an animated version. (I am not sure what the songs would be like!) The story may not be family musical material, but it does reveal God's ability to work in and through scandal. Come and hear this week about God's purposes and desires even in the messy parts of life. God's ability to redeem and transform can sometimes be scandalous! See you Sunday! Blessings, Pastor Sarah and the Pastoral Team |
