Rev-W

Hello Friends,

I hope everyone is having a great week! I am excited to begin this week's blurb with great news! As pastor over GIVE ministries I hear the wonderful ways that Shepherd of the Hills engages the community here, there and everywhere. One of our "there" partnerships is SHIP, an organization that helps to feed, house and train those who are making the transition from homelessness to employment. We serve by providing meals and fellowship for the SHIP residents. Mark Burke coordinates the program, and he challenged the church at both sites to provide two week's worth of dinners. I'm excited to tell you that . . . WE DID IT! -- all the dinners are covered! So now what? Mark is asking folks to donate to cover the cost of the other meals. Please contact Mark Burke if you can help.

Also, don't forget to come and support the Baja Pay Back event this Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm, as we host a great event to support our GIVE "everywhere" partner YUGO. And stay tuned to hear about more ways you can be part of how Shepherd engages the world.

This week during worship we are continuing our "God: Characters Welcome" series with Rahab. The story contains scandal, and highlights God's embracing nature that goes beyond our human understanding of Grace. It is an encouraging story, and I hope you check out the full version in Joshua chapter 2.

Blessings,

Pastor Sarah and the Pastoral Team

Off-road motorcycle Baja Payback Event for YUGO Ministries
Saturday, August 4th
10 am to 4 pm, MV campus

2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the first-time run of motorcycles from Tijuana to La Paz, Mexico, later to become the famous Baja 1000 race. Our MV campus will be crawling with displays of motorcycles, old and new. Johnny Campbell, 10 time Baja 1000 winner, will be here for photo opportunities and sharing of memories.

YUGO Ministries will be on hand sharing their ministry, stories, and needs. This is the "payback" - our own Charlie Keller, a life member of the American Motorcycle Association and manager of the Honda Riders Club for 15 years, has a passion for motorcycles and now for YUGO. Charlie attended our last mission trip to build houses for YUGO; now, he and his friends will be here. Let's rally and pay back the wonderful people of Baja by building more houses for the glory of God. (You can read about the
January mission trip to Mexico here.)
