Week of July 1st, 2012 

Hello Friends,  

It was so wonderful to be in worship together as one church in the RSM Central Park last week. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make that day so special, from BBQ masters to wonderful greeters, the day was a success because of you!

I am not sure how many of you watch the USA TV network, but during the summer they have clips between commercial breaks that feature some of the more unique people and stories around America. After the feature, they always say USA characters welcome. This week we begin our series looking at the unique characters God has used throughout the old testament. The series will focus on some of the unique ancestors we all share and how God's interaction with them gives us a clearer picture of who God is and what God's character is like. This week we begin "God, Characters Welcome" with the unique story of Abraham. I look forward to seeing all of you this Sunday!

Sawdust Festival and Pawnshop Kings

We are asking the congregation to bring in new backpacks on July 15^th and July 22^nd. During VBS week, July 23^rd - 27^th, we are asking all the VBS participants to bring in school supplies. All new backpacks and school supplies with be donated to SCO to help equip children in the community for the upcoming school year.

Relay for Life of Rancho Santa Margarita

Relay for Life celebrates the lives of many who have battled cancer, remembers loved ones lost, and raises funds for cancer research.  Come, participate! Whether you walk, man the tent, participate with our craft activities, or provide your story, you are helping to fight back against the disease. Be a part of the Shepherd of the Hills team!

Self-Help Interfaith Program (SHIP) Dinners

Here is a fantastic opportunity to help the recently jobless...

SHIP dinners are being hosted by both campuses of Shepherd of the Hills from August 11th - 25th. We will be responsible for providing dinners each night by 6:15 pm at the SHIP house in Garden Grove. It's a rewarding and family-safe, chaperoned environment, with full kitchen available. Please bring your cooking utensils, your love and support, and heart for conversation!  Signups are at the Message Center. Changes for the Rancho Santa Margarita Campus Staff

Liz Boulter Moving to Shepherd of the Hills Preschool, Mission Viejo Campus

Pastor Craig is pleased to share that Liz Boulter, the current Office Administrator at SMUMC, has accepted a new position as Office Administrator for Shepherd of the Hills Preschool at the Mission Viejo campus.  Liz's final day of work at the Rancho Santa Margarita campus will be July 19th.  She begins her new position at the Preschool later in August.  Beverly Coker-Jones will be moving from the Mission Viejo campus to the RSM campus beginning July 23rd to assume Liz's duties.  We all pray for the very best for Liz as she remains within the life of Shepherd of the Hills staff community!
