Week of June 24th, 2012

This week is a huge week in the life of our church! We are having one outdoor service together in conjunction with our other campus at 10 am at the the Rancho Santa Margarita Central park. This is going to be a really special service and feature a baptism by our Bishop, joint choirs, and a sermon created and delivered by both Pastor Craig and myself. We will be looking at the story of Joshua and the people as they enter into God's promised land after they had been wandering in the land of Moab. As we begin this new adventure it will be great to be together to celebrate what God is doing in our church.

Shepherd of the Hills Inaugural Worship Celebration

Sunday, July 1st at 10 a.m.

Rancho Santa Margarita

Join in the celebration as we launch our new multi-site church in South Orange County!  Bishop Mary Ann Swenson will be leading us in the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion.  Pastors Craig & Sarah will bring a joint message on this first Sunday of our new church.  Kim Nason, Dave Roberts and the new MV Modern Worship Leader, Philip Bardowell will be leading inspiring music of celebration.  In addition to our normal Sunday offering, there will be a special offering for South County Outreach in honor of Bishop Swenson`s upcoming retirement.

Following the worship celebration, there will be a side dish/dessert potluck to go along with the furnished hamburgers and hot dogs.  Water will be provided as well.  There will be special reserved seating for our seniors during the worship.  The sun may be shining so dress accordingly! You may want to bring blankets and chairs for the picnic. Click here for a map to the park.

Changes for the Rancho Santa Margarita Campus Staff

Liz Boulter Moving to Shepherd of the Hills Preschool, Mission Viejo Campus

Pastor Craig is pleased to share that Liz Boulter, the current Office Administrator at SMUMC, has accepted a new position as Office Administrator for Shepherd of the Hills Preschool at the Mission Viejo campus.  Liz's final day of work at the Rancho Santa Margarita campus will be July 19th.  She begins her new position at the Preschool later in August.  Beverly Coker-Jones will be moving from the Mission Viejo campus to the RSM campus beginning July 23rd to assume Liz's duties.  We all pray for the very best for Liz as she remains within the life of Shepherd of the Hills staff community!

Relay for Life celebrates the lives of many who have battled cancer, remembers loved ones lost, and raises funds for cancer research.  Come, participate! Whether you walk, man the tent, participate with our craft activities, or provide your story, you are helping to fight back against the disease. Be a part of the Shepherd of the Hills team!

Many, many thanks to all of you who contributed to the success of our auction by donating goods and services and by bidding on all of the great items!  Over $1,200 was raised to help send our Youth to Summer Camp.  There are still items to be picked up, please contact Richard Annett or the office to make arrangements. 

Self-Help Interfaith Program (SHIP) Dinners

Here is a fantastic opportunity to help the recently jobless...

SHIP dinners are being hosted by both campuses of Shepherd of the Hills from August 11th - 25th. We will be responsible for providing dinners each night by 6:15 pm at the SHIP house in Garden Grove. It's a rewarding and family-safe, chaperoned environment, with full kitchen available. Please bring your cooking utensils, your love and support, and heart for conversation!  Signups are at the Message Center.
