Hello Friends,

 

It is great to be back in California after a restful and joyful holiday spent in Mississippi with my family. I am still in awe over how Christmas Eve was such a blessing. It was wonderful to be together and see the nativity story come alive. I am thankful to everyone who participated in the service and all of our musicians! 

 

This week we begin a new series called "Revolution". This series will investigate how God works in revolutionary ways in the World and how we can know what God's character is. This week we will begin the series by talking about the revolutionary act of Baptism. The act of baptism teaches a lot about how God works in the world and how we can participate in God's Revolution. As an exciting part of worship together, we will be participating in a Baptism at 10:30 a.m. in the baptismal font. We are blessed to have two new members joining our community this Sunday so you don't want to miss it!!!

Please join us as we welcome baby Kaydence Watson as our smallest member of our congregation at her baptism this Sunday!  It will take place right after first service so if you attend the 11 am worship, make sure you come early to help celebrate this event!

Life Skills Workshop

 

Saturday, January 14th from 9 am - 12 pm.
People are hurting. It does not take an economist to realize that we are living in uncertain economic times.  Everyone knows someone who has lost a job, or is in danger of losing his or her job.  People are worried and not sure how to deal with the new economic reality.  Please join nationally recognized motivational speaker and life coach, Chris Alexander, as he offers a workshop to help the unemployed and under-employed "Discover Focus & Joy:  Navigating the New Economic Reality."  Bring your friends, family and neighbors for a life transforming morning at SMUMC. HouseMexico Mission Trip

There is a mandatory meeting for all participants this Sunday, January 8th at 6:30 pm at the Mission Viejo campus.  Please contact Pastor Craig Brown if you have any questions.

The Mission Viejo campus will be conducting their next blood drive with the Red Cross on Thursday, January 26th from  2 - 8 pm. 

 

If you wish to make an appointment, you can contact Avis French at 949-830-1167.  To register online, go to www.givelife.org, click on 'Make a Blood Donation Appointment' in the blue box, enter sponsor code "shepherdhills", and follow the instructions. You can also contact Mary Beth McGowan here at Santa Margarita.

 

The Cooperative Parish will be conducting blood drives every other month in 2012 at either the Santa Margarita or Mission Viejo campus. Donors are welcome at either site. If you want to make your appointments for the whole year, contact Avis French.

Watch our children and youth perform "The Tiniest Christmas Star" all over again!! 

   

DVDs may be picked up in the lobby at the Media display on the right hand side. A $10 donation to our Multi-Media Ministry would be appreciated. DVDs will also be available in the office during the week.
