Week of Nov. 13, 2011

Hello Friends,
This week we are finishing our series on what it means to be United Methodist, our "Method in the Madness" series. Last week Pastor Craig shared with us about the Quadrilateral and this week we are going to be talking about what it means to have discipline in our faith. In our culture discipline doesn't always have a positive connotation and can be intimidating. But having a discipline in our faith can actually free up space for the Holy Spirit and be a life giving practice. So come this week and hear about how we order our faith!
We will also have some special guests with us... my very own parents! Look forward to seeing you in worship.
~ Blessings, Pastor Sarah

Help 55 Alive "Change the World" and send goats to needy families!
"With all the money donated to help fight famine around the world, with all the grandiose plans conceived to conquer poverty, sometimes all it takes to save a child is a goat."
~ 60 Minutes, CBS News Magazine Program
Heifer International provides food and income-producing animals to poor families in more than 125 countries. Animal products such as milk, eggs, and meat improve nutrition. Wool, draft power, and manure for fertilizer help families earn money for education, clothes, healthcare, and better housing.
If you would like to contribute to this holiday gift, please make a check out to SMUMC, and on the memo line write "Heifer Mission." Place your check in this Sunday's offering basket. For additional information, please contact Pat Brewer. |

 'Round the Table Carol Sing
Sunday, December 4th at 5:30 pm
Are you ready to sing? Can you smell the Christmas cookies? It's time for the annual 'Round the Table Carol Sing! It begins with soup and rolls, and then the good stuff; hot chocolate, cider and Christmas cookies. As usual, we'll sing all your favorite holiday songs, and hear a selection from the Chancel Choir and special guests from the Mission Viejo campus. The evening will conclude around 7 pm with a visit from Santa and a reading of "The Night before Christmas." We're looking for cookie bakers and other helpers, so please sign up at the Message Center. Questions? Please contact Kim Nason.
