Rev-W

Hello Friends,

If you have ever driven by our sign, you may notice there is a cross and flame on it. If you drive by the Mission Viejo site, you will also notice that same symbol. This cross and flame is the sign that you are at a United Methodist church. It is just like any other form of branding; it is the way to signify, without any words, what is held within. By seeing the cross and flame you know that you are at a United Methodist church, but what in the world does that mean? Methodism wasn't always a church. It used to be a way of life, a method for living. This Sunday we will rediscover the roots of living life by God's grace ... the Methodist way. The world around us can often appear to be one full of madness and chaos. Methodism is a way of living within that world, so join us as we begin the series, "Method in the Madness."

Trunk or TreatTrunk or Treat and Chili Cookoff

This Sunday, October 30th

from 5 to 7:30 pm

Join us for an evening of games, crafts, pots and pots of great chili, and of course, Trick or Treating!  This is a fantastic event and fun for the whole family!  Submit your own secret chili recipe or enjoy the benefits of simply being a judge.  The little ones (and little ones at heart) will love participating in the parade.  Finally, don't forget to decorate your car trunk (garnished with candy, of course) - and decorate yourself, if you'd like.  All this for only $5 per family. Questions? Contact Vicki Faivre

SHIP: Self-Help Interfaith Program

SHIP is a transitionary shelter which helps the recently homeless find a job. Dinners for this program are being hosted by SMUMC December 24th - 31st. We will be responsible for providing dinners each night at the SHIP house in Garden Grove. The most important part of dinner is the talking between the guests and your family; having that connection and interaction. The food is important, but secondary. Signups are at the Message Center. For details please contact Mark Burke

The development of blended practices and ministry programs are a key part of the Cooperative Parish transition, in anticipation of our unification as one church.  The plans for each ministry area will be presented to the entire congregation during the Congregational Checkpoint meetings, which are planned for November, February, and April.  Read about this and more in our October newsletter.
