Spring is Springing! |
Dear Clients and Friends,
As Spring emerges, it means that your tax deadline is rapidly approaching. Don't worry though, you still have time to get your things together! So be sure to gather your tax information for us in time to meet the April 15 filing date.
Here are some important items to remember:
- If you need to file for an extension, you still need to pay your tax by the April due date. An extension of time to file does not give you an extension of time to pay.
- There's still time to make your IRA or SEP contribution and have it deducted on your 2010 return. Don't forget to tell us about any deductions you may have - real estate taxes, charitable contributions, unreimbursed business expenses, medical expenses. Also there are credits available for installing certain energy efficient items in your primary residence - windows, doors, hot water heaters, etc.If you are not sure, ask us.
- Remember to send us your signed e-file authorization forms once your tax return has been completed. This allows us to electronically transmit your return to the government. If you have a balance due, you can e-file anytime, and send the payment as late as April 15. You can also elect to have the balance due electronically withdrawn from your bank account on April 15, even when transmitting the return earlier than that date.
- Once you've filed, you can check on the status of a refund due you on the IRS website (www.irs.gov). You just need your social security number, filing status, and the amount of your refund.
Remember, we are here for you. Please feel free to call us if you have any questions.
Very truly yours,
Suzanne LoBiondo, CPA Christopher Cheeseman, CPA |
