State Funds Available for Training 
In these economically tight times, training budgets often get reduced drastically or cut altogether. Funds may sometimes be available from the following State of Maryland programs: 
  • Partnership for Workforce Quality (PWQ) - for companies seeking to retrain current employees to enhance business competitiveness, productivity, or employment stability or to enable workers to keep pace with emerging technologies
  • Maryland Industrial Training Program - for companies that are expanding their workforce or are new to Maryland
  • Maryland Business Works - for training incumbent workers in small businesses of 50 or fewer employees
  • Dept. of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) - for on-the-job training for persons with disabilities

NONCREDIT CONTINUING EDUCATION 
 
  • Reflective Supervision - For supervisors and directors who want an overview of the reflective approach to supervision, in which leadership responsibilities are viewed in a positive relational manner. Participate in interactive and self-assessment activities that give you practical guidance to build and practice interpersonal relationship skills for productive supervision of staff, strengthen your interpersonal work relationships, and identify, manage, and reduce conflicts in the work place.
  • Government Contracting - classes in Federal Government Procurement Process; and Cost Analysis.
Professional Human Resource Management, the SHRM-sponsored preparation for the HRCI exam, is offered every February and September.
