Jonathan Smeeton, one of the most successful production designers in the industry (Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Sammy Hagar, Peter Gabriel...) will be speaking at a free one-hour seminar at PLASA Focus Nashville in addition to leading a full-day workshop prior to Focus. The seminar, "From Concept to First Night," is a quick overview of Smeeton's unique approach to design. The workshop is designed to help you to master the tools, tooling and manufacturing techniques of the master production designer.

It covers a variety of topics on the basics of touring, touring roles, and their functions, including stagehands, dealing with local labor, travel logistics, general rules of the road and touring etiquette, the tools of the trade, terminology, venue and stage descriptions, and more.

PLASA Focus Nashville

Tony Award-winning scenic designer Donyale Werle will kick off the Professional Development Program at PLASA Focus Nashville with a free seminar entitled "The Green Scene: Recycling Sets." Werle recently won a Tony Award for her work on "Peter and the Star Catcher" on Broadway. She is also the co-chair of the Pre-Production committee of the Broadway Green Alliance, and a passionate promoter of sustainable design. She will talk about using found and recycled materials to build set pieces and possibly win a Tony.
