PLASA Focus Party with
Devon Allman & Honeytribe

Devon Allman & Honeytribe with the Swingin' Johnsons at Antone's
Sponsored by Academy of of Production Technology and High End Systems

PLASA Focus Austin is a trade show for the live event production industry, which will be held at the Renassiance Hotel and Conference Center on February 22 and 23. To cap the first day of the event, Devon Allman & Honeytribe will bring their special brand of blues and rock to the legendary blues club, Antone's, downtown on Sixth Street. Opening the show will be industry veterans The Swingin' Johnsons and Austin-based Michael Holt. The Johnsons include Robert Mokry of LightParts and Bruce Jordahl on guitar, Scott Church of 4Wall on bass, and Thommy Hall of Vari-Lite on drums.

Devon Allman is the son of famous rocker Greg Allman of the Allman Brothers, and though he looks and sounds much like his father, he has a blazing style that's all his own. He is currently burnishing his own path on the road and has recently received strong critical acclaim.

The PLASA Focus trade show has been going strong in the United Kingdom for several years, but this is its inaugural event in the U.S.
In addition to several exhibitor booths, the trade show offers many free seminars on a variety of topics for a variety of industry pros. Some of the sessions include:
  • media server programming with Hippotizer
  • demystifying audio
  •  digital video content protection
  • audio networking
  • and more

Special guest speakers include lighting designer Peter Morse (Bette Midler, Barbara Streisand, Prince, Madonna, Shakira, Reba McEntire), who will speak about his lighting techniques, and lighting designer Brian Gale (Mark Taper Forum, Disneyland), who will talk about the art of lighting design.

There will also be a special session about sustainability in the theatre community conducted by Charles Deull, co-chair of the Broadway Green Alliance. The BGA has been a world leader in greener theatre practices and this session is sure to be a good one. The seminars are free but space is limited so sign up today at www.plasafocus.com/austin.

Don't miss Devon Allman & Honeytribe with The Swingin' Johnsons plus Michael Holt and the Anythings at Austin's home of the blues, Antone's. Admission is free for registered attendees of PLASA Focus Austin.
