APT to Offer ETCP Recognized Rigging and Electrical Training

August 1, 2011-ETCP Recognized Trainer Bill Sapsis has joined the faculty of the Academy of Production Technology (APT-www.APTxl.com). The new cooperative agreement allows APT to offer ETCP Recognized training for both entertainment riggers and electricians in the theatrical and live entertainment fields. The demand for Sapsis' world renowned arena rigging and counterweight rigging classes is eclipsed only by his famous sense of humor.

Richard Cadena, founder of APT and ETCP Recognized Trainer, said of the addition, "I can't think of a better match for APT than Bill Sapsis. He is highly regarded as one of the best teachers in his field and anyone who is serious about a career in entertainment rigging, from the least experienced to the very most experienced, can benefit from taking his classes. I'm thrilled with his association with APT."

Sapsis commented, "I don't know who this clown is, but I kinda felt sorry for him, so I reluctantly said yes."

A 40' span of 16" box truss flown with two 1/2-ton chain motors. There are 16 PAR 64s, 8 Martin MAC 2K Profiles, and 8 Martin MAC 2K Wash luminaires. The truss weighs 6 lbs/foot, the chain motors weigh 110 lbs (including the chain), the PAR cans weigh 9 lbs each, the MAC 2K Profiles weigh 100 lbs, and the MAC 2K Wash weigh 75 lbs each. There are 7 multicables feeding power to the luminaires, and they are run on the truss so that the ends are 5-feet apart from each other. (The first is 5' from the end of the truss, the second is 10' from the end, etc.) If the truss is flown at a trim of 40', and all of the multicables are run from the left side of the truss to the ground, what is the total static load?
