German Hotels under 100

This Oktoberfest season, spending less money on lodging means having more for beer. The Creatif Hotel Elephant in the heart of Munich is a 3-star hotel standard with interior creative touches lightening up the space. Rates start at a 1-star standard: double rooms start at 59 euro per night. For more German lodging deals, check out the 2-star A&O Hostels (starting at 20 euro per night) or the Motel One (starting at 49 euro per night), both located throughout Germany.

Setting Sail:

Cruises for Beer Lovers

(Arne Trautmann / age fotostock)
Luckily, cruises have recently heightened the bar of an industry that didn't cater to beer lovers. The Norwegian Cruise Line fleet, for instance, which caters to beer lovers with on-board whiskey-and-beer bars that stock about 65 whiskeys and 45 beers. Special beer-tasting events are offered across the NCL fleet, concentrating on beers specific to the sailing region or exploring the differences between beer types.

Royal Caribbean's Oasis-class ships, Freedom-class ships, and Voyager-class ships are pretty hefty competition with an indoor Royal Promenade boulevard and its fixture English-style pub. Done up in dark, woody style, each offers the best beer menu in the Royal Caribbean fleet, from Murphy's, a stout from County Cork, Ireland, to Dublin-based Guinness.

Italian Wine Harvest

As Let's Travel! Producer Susi Raphael traipses across Italy, we're dreaming of harvest season's fresh grapes. Those seeking an authentic Italian experience might be interested in a bed and breakfast like La Tavola Marche, or apartments like Solebello. Both are tucked away in the less-touristy region of Le Marche but have American owners who give advice in English about hidden Italy. For those seeking an authentic experience filled with more than booze, La Tavola features Carnivore's Delight: a five-night stay during which visitors can forage, slaughter & butcher their meals
