EARTH DAY!

Earth day is coming up! Originally inspired in reaction to a horrific oil spill off the coast in 1969, you could say this year's Earth Day is hauntingly reminiscent of its origins and will be celebrating an important time in the revitalization of our nation's environmental agenda... Over the next week, some great educational and inspirational events will be popping up in cities across the country.

At one of the largest annual environmental fairs in the world, the U.S. Green Chamber will have a booth at EarthFair 2011 in Balboa Park. Expect to see hundreds of green exhibitors and enjoy some great food, fun activities, multiple entertainment venues, art shows, and more. Come find us on El Prado St this Sunday, April 17th from 10am-5pm!

Sustainability at its Finest

California State University, San Marcos (CSUSM) has exhibited an incredible commitment to sustainability, setting a precedent for efficient building design and construction for the rest of the state. While their incredible green efforts have helped reduced energy consumption by more than 35%, the money saved is helping improve the financials of the Campus overall.

Alex Wong graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a bachelors in Psychology. He has traveled to Chile, where he taught English to young children and picked up Spanish, as well as Jordan, where he participated in a archaeological dig.

Eventually finding his way to the US Green Chamber, Alex is excited to better understand the role, function, and organization of businesses and how to better implement environmental practices across the board. Not only is Alex is a very valued staff member at the US Green Chamber, but he is referred to as our "Master of Everything Great." From his extensive work in community outreach, filming, photography, graphics and blogging, Alex always puts forth his best effort on any task presented.

He will soon be attending Florida Atlantic University to pursue his PhD in Social Psychology, where he will, without a doubt, be very successful. Alex is a great friend to everyone here at the US Green Chamber, always looking for a way to help each and every staff member. We are very lucky to have him on our team!
