Miami Fellows visit Cartagena
Miami Fellows Class VI has just returned from a four-day learning expedition to Colombia.
Together with the Pan American Development Foundation the 17 Fellows explored issues that parallel those here in Miami.
They met with business, government and nonprofit officials and explored key economic, social and cultural issues in the country. The trip was highlighted by a visit to the Port where they compared processes and policies to Miami; the Cartagena Chamber of Commerce where they learned about various jobs and skills training programs; and the Rosario Islands, an hour off the coast to explore the Afro-Colombian population.
Read more about their exciting trip.

Sunrise Community Center
We recently visited Sunrise Community's Log Cabin Nursery. The innovative plant nursery provides vocational training, communication skills and basic life skills training to adults with disabilities. For over 45 years, Sunrise Community Center has served the needs of people with intellectual and physical challenges. We are proud to partner with them through our 2012 Community Grants program to renovate a residential group home that provides permanent housing for adults with physical and intellectual disabilities.
