Miami Marlins - Charities of Choice
With Opening Day at Marlins Park quickly approaching, Miami Marlins President and member of The Miami Foundation's Board of Trustees, David Samson, is taking time to honor the construction workers who made the park a reality. He will run 50 miles to honor them and raise money for several local organizations. The Marlins will award $500,000 to ten of their charity partners, including The Miami Foundation's Engaged Youth Program. This will allow us to continue our investment in the continuum of leadership in the community. For more information and to support this effort, click here.

Successful Family Philanthropy
Family philanthropy can connect generations together with shared values and beliefs. The Miami Foundation hosted a lunch with Goldman Sachs on just that. Guests were treated to a talk by Karey Dubiel Dye, Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, about creating a culture of giving across generations by investing in our community. Here are three things to consider for successful family philanthropy: 1. Establish giving priorities 2. Create a vision for what you want to achieve 3. Communicate regularly about why you give We have advised hundreds of families on philanthropy. Rafael Saldaña, of the Saldaña Family Fund at The Miami Foundation and a new Board Member works with our team to match his family's philanthropic interests with the needs in our community. For him, "The Miami Foundation and its team of philanthropic experts make philanthropy fun and easy. They provide a greater benefit to me than a private foundation."
