JSY STARS Attend National Conference

Monday evening, 20 JSY STARS mentors took a plane, some of them for the first time, to Colorado to attend the STARS National Conference. For four days, the students are joining with over 300 mentors from all over the country as they gather on the campus of Colorado State University in Ft. Collins.

Through the conference, the mentors will learn leadership building, and communication skills. They will also receive relationship training. These lessons will add to their arsenal that they will bring back with them to use next year at W.T. White and Garland ISD to encourage their mentees to reach for success.

Keep up with our mentors all week on our Facebook page

Interesting facts/stats

Nationwide, marijuana is the most commonly used illicit drug. In a developing teen brain, marijuana can weaken verbal and communication skills, lower learning capability and decrease attention spans.

Visit our Facebook page each Monday this month to learn new facts and stats on teens and drug use. Read our tweets all month long to find our fun list of things teens can do during their summer down months to have fun and feel good without involving drugs.
