Greetings!,
Thank you to everyone who attended the 2012 JSY Luncheon, Pointing Youth in the Right Direction, on April 11 at the home of Kenny and Lisa Troutt.
We are so close to our fundraising goal! One of our generous donors has offered a matching gift for our luncheon-related donations. Every dollar raised from this event will be matched up to $50,000. We still need a few more donations to attain the full matching gift so we can hit $100,000 to equip youth to succeed. It's not too late for you to include your gift to help us reach that goal! The luncheon itself was a success, with 330 of you in attendance. Our main speaker for the day was former Dallas Mavericks head coach and current head coach for the New Jersey Nets, Avery Johnson. Coach Johnson delivered a powerful message to the attendees, asking them to transport themselves back into teenagers. Thus he addressed all of the "high school students" about the importance of having a positive attitude and strong character. Since 2010, JSY speaker Coach Johnson has impacted nearly 15,000 students, parents and educators through his speaking engagements. We were very excited to have the opportunity for our supporters to hear exactly what goes on in Coach Johnson's student programs.
We were also very pleased to have the mentors participating in the STARS Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Program at Garland ISD. These amazing young men and women showed everyone in attendance the power a positive attitude and encouragement to reach their dreams can have in a teen's life. |
