News Update
 June 2, 2011
Greetings from the

Linda Elinore

Floating Stone Inn & Aqua Spa

After 3+ years under development, I can finally announce that our first day of business will be on June 4th  - just two days from now.  I heard from Santa Cruz County yesterday afternoon that we can pick up our temporary Certificate of Occupancy today, June 2nd  - a huge step for us after so long in coming.  We thank you for our patience.

Remember that this is our "Shake-down" Summer at the Floating Stone.  I'm reminded by others that no new business owner ever feels ready for that first day.  They are right. For me, the perfect metaphor is the birth of my son.  I was physically ready after 9 months of pregnancy, but the uncertainty/anxiety surrounding what parenthood would be like, felt overwhelming.  All I can say is that I and my small but growing staff, will be learning as we go about how best to serve you.  We want your feedback, of course, and will have a suggestion box at our front desk.  I've been told that in 'shake-down' cruises of new vessels, everything that can go wrong, often does. Bear with us this summer as we work out the kinks in our operations.  We're very excited about welcoming you this Saturday at 9am to 10pm and we know it may be a bit chaotic until we smooth out our sails.

If you haven't already, please make your reservation for our opening party on July 9th from 5pm to 9pm.  This is by RSVP only.  Call Sissy at 520 398-3193.  There will be massage and aqua massage demonstrations, information and demos on our special 'alkaline' drinking water and our non-chlorinated, 'ionized' pools, demos on the Life-Wave patches we will making available through our retail store, refreshments, music, and tours of the aqua spa pools, the historic Charles Poston Inn Rooms and Casita Linda.  We will also be having drawings for wellness-related items.

Also, If you have a class or an event you would like to provide through the Floating Stone, click on this link for details http://www.thefloatingstoneinn.com/workshops/holding-and-event-at-the-floating-stone/,  It can be anything from a dream group (I heard yesterday that one may be on its way), to an art/dance/yoga class, or maybe a private family reunion.  Our entire facility which includes Casita Linda, the Event Center, the 3 pools, and our 5, off-site casitas can be rented out for private events, or you can rent Casita Linda (for groups up to 10), or the Event Center (for groups up to 20 - 30).

Pool3With some help from Sandy Baenen of Artwerks, I'll get off another newsblast soon that will feature information and photos on our staff.  We have some great new photos to share on staff and our facility that were just taken last week.  Trying to get them sized right to put in these newsblasts is still not part of my skill set yet.  In the meantime, please spread the word that we are looking to hire massage therapists and other complimentary wellness practitioners/professionals.  We are also looking for additional receptionists, and someone to help us organize and oversee programs/events and our retail store.

Don't forget that we have a workshop called Dying Consciously:  The Greatest Journey on June 10th through June 12 with Carolyn Shafer. Call Carolyn for details and to register at 520-405-1117.

Reservation Policy

Because our facility offers a small intimate setting and can be rented out for private events, day guests need to call in advance to reserve their spot.   We will welcome guests without a reservation as long as space is available. We do this so that our pools don't become too crowded and to ensure guests do not arrive when private parties are planned.

Parking

We provide check-in parking in the front of our building only.  After you check in and receive a gate code to our back parking lot gate and a pool key card, you can repark in the back lot.

Class Schedule

Most of our aqua classes will be held in the morning, and announced on our calendar.  We now have an aqua aerobics class being offered Monday and Wednesday's from 10am to 11am.
