In response to the 2010 Plumstead Township residential survey results it is clear to the members of the Park and Recreation committee that Walking Trails and Biking Trails were very high on the priority list for Plumstead residents. Walking Trails were requested 3 ½ to 1 over almost every other activity and Biking trails were requested 2 ½ to 1 . The Park and Recreation committee is aligned with the community and would like to move forward with the formulation of a network of Walking and Biking trails throughout our community. Some of our initial goals are to link our neighborhoods together, provide walking and biking access to our parks, access our village centers, and create network of safe corridors the residents of Plumstead to get outside and enjoy "Beautiful Plumstead".

Next we need your help we are looking for volunteers preferably from the different developments and areas all around Plumstead. If you are connected into the thoughts of your neighbors that is even better we want to take in consideration a well-rounded view of the issues, ideas and keep moving forward.  The Plumstead Township Supervisors depend on the Park and Recreation committee and the community to give them the feedback needed to understand the needs of the community. We welcome anyone interested in this topic to attend our Park and Recreation committee meetings held on the 4th Tuesday of every month where we will be appointing a subcommittee to carry this very important task forward.

Thank you for your interest in our community and desire to make a difference.

If you are interested in hearing more about our plans, sign up here for the "Plumstead Trails" email list.  We'll keep you informed and you can let us know what you think!

Book Club

Gotta love Books! What does one do in the winter months to pass the time?  Why, join a book club!  The Plumstead Township Parks and Recreation has done it again, hosting its first book club. It has been a huge success.  The club is 25+ people, all ages, men and woman, with participants living close by and some even travel from Upper Black Eddy!  The goal of the club is to read and meet new people.  This setting is a bit different than other clubs, as we all are reading the same books but in a different order.  Each month, you have a discussion in a small group setting.  The next month, your discussion group changes and we swap books that we have read with others.  Have we piqued your interest?  Come be a part of the group.

Spring Session is taking registration, now through March 28th.

Spring Session cost $5.00. It meets the third Friday of the month.  April 20, May 18 and June 15th.  Come meet new people, read, and have fun doing it!

We want teenagers, age 15 and up to come be counselors for BBBC!

Are you interested?

Do you have what it takes to be a leader?

Do you like kids, and wonder how to fill those community service hours?

We need YOU to be a counselor for our Beach Blanket Book Club!  We need teens who can commit to one or both sessions to help lead a craft, discussion, and games about books.

We will provide all ideas and materials.   If this sound interesting to you, visit the Park and Rec. website, and fill out a Counselor application.  We do not know how many kids will sign up for the event, so in truth we may need 50 teens or we may need 15? If interested, please fill out the application, and we will host group interviews on Sunday, May 20 @ 6:30 PM at the Township building.

Once we host the interview process, we will let you know if you got the job!  You can apply to work at both sessions or only one of them, dates of BBBC are Thursday July 19 &/or Thursday August 9 from 9:00 to 1:00.  Details can be found on our website.  Be a leader in your town!  We can't wait to meet you.

Questions? Please contact Mrs. DeStefano.
