Greetings to our Plumstead Park & Rec Friends!
Fall officially arrives this week!
The end of the summer marked a new program from Park and Rec. One great highlight was the formation of a Co-Ed Adult Kickball league in a matter of weeks. The program was an inspiration from a P&R member. The first Kick happened the first week of September! Participants are having a blast! The sidelines have their kids and many others cheering them on and wishing they could play too!
One of our summer meetings included a meeting about our bike-hike-walking trails. We are have had alot of input come our way and the groundwork for this exciting new commitee is building.
Our other summer planning included our second annual scavenger hunt on October 2nd! We have had such positive feedback on our first! What's in store this year? [read more to find out]
We always enjoy hearing from you, after all, that's wher our ideas come from!
Enjoy this newsletter, and feel free to write us with your thoughts!

Come and Discover Plumstead the 2nd Amazing Scavenger Hunt Sunday, Oct 2!
Back by popular demand, Plumstead Township Park and Recreation will host their second Discover Plumstead, An Amazing Scavenger Hunt,
Sunday Oct. 2 12:00 - 5:00 rain or shine
REGISTER NOW! Click here
This event is a driving scavenger hunt around the Plumstead area. All participants learn a little bit of history, participate in a few activities, and have a whole lot of fun!
Those who participated in the first scavenger hunt, loved how all 10 sites offered something completely different. Teams learned about the Doanes Brothers, were taught how to use a compass, discovered the many walking trails in our parks and even challenged themselves to finding a piece of bubble gum in a tin of whipped cream! Most important, all who participated ~ ages 1 to 99 ~ had a great time learning a little bit more of the many fantastic places Plumstead Township has to offer.
What will you discover at our next scavenger hunt? You'll have to participate on Sunday, Oct. 2 to find out! One thing is for sure, there is a whole lot to discover in Plumstead!
Registration opens August 29th through Monday September 25. Cost is $10 for a team of 4 people. Registration forms and information can be found at Plumstead Park and Rec.org

Trails Committee
In response to the 2010 Plumstead Township residential survey results it is clear to the members of the Park and Recreation committee that Walking Trails and Biking Trails were very high on the priority list for Plumstead residents. Walking Trails were requested 3 ½ to 1 over almost every other activity and Biking trails were requested 2 ½ to 1 . The Park and Recreation committee is aligned with the community and would like to move forward with the formulation of a network of Walking and Biking trails throughout our community. Some of our initial goals are to link our neighborhoods together, provide walking and biking access to our parks, access our village centers, and create network of safe corridors the residents of Plumstead to get outside and enjoy "Beautiful Plumstead".
Next we need your help we are looking for volunteers preferably from the different developments and areas all around Plumstead. If you are connected into the thoughts of your neighbors that is even better we want to take in consideration a well-rounded view of the issues, ideas and keep moving forward. The Plumstead Township Supervisors depend on the Park and Recreation committee and the community to give them the feedback needed to understand the needs of the community. We welcome anyone interested in this topic to attend our Park and Recreation committee meetings held on the 4th Tuesday of every month where we will be appointing a subcommittee to carry this very important task forward.
Thank you for your interest in our community and desire to make a difference.
If you are interested in hearing more about our plans, sign up here for the "Plumstead Trails" email list. We'll keep you informed and you can let us know what you think! |
