From our Chair......

Happy new year everyone. Wow! Can you believe that Y2K
and the end of human control on earth was a full decade ago! Also, the last
time the world was going to end altogether was in 1984 - a full two and a half
decades ago! I guess we must have another one coming up pretty soon. The rumor
is 2012.
In the meantime, we'll keep the course and create park
programs full of joy and celebration so we can all enjoy ourselves while we're
waiting.
Becky Barlow and the Plumstead Park Committee are heaping
it on this year! Stay tuned to the website: http://www.plumsteadparkandrec.org/
Keep an eye on this one, 2010 is going to be fun in
Plumstead Parks.
Also, for all you river lovers, there are two important
Delaware River trips this summer. See the attached links to the Delaware River
Sojourn in June and the Rising Nation Journey in August.

Celebrate Fitness and Community Come Run, Jog or Walk in the Groveland Great Grizzly 5k/1mile Run Event
|
Join one of the largest schools in Central Bucks as it once again encourages all students, families and surrounding community to come together in a day of fitness and fun. Groveland Elementary School's Home and School Association hosts the fourth annual Groveland Great Grizzly 5K and 1-mile Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at 9 a.m. The starting line, awards and activities will take place at the Plumsteadville Fire House. Doors open at 8am. More than 750 walkers and runners participated last year and even more are expected in 2010. The event - and sponsors -- are also publicized throughout Central Bucks, on websites (www.cbsd.org/groveland and www.greatgrizzlyrun.com) and at Groveland, home of more than 1,100 students. Proceeds benefit the Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company and the Groveland Elementary School Wellness Committee. Sponsorship is needed to support this great event. For a donation of $250, your businesses' names will be included on the runner/walkers' T-shirts, all signage and in the school newsletter. Sponsors are also invited to set up a table at the race event to present flyers, coupons and giveaways to all participants. To connect your business to thousands in Plumstead and beyond, contact Chrissy Grube at (215) 766-7986 or Christinagrube@comcast.net by March 5, 2010.For more information about race registration, the race course, road closures, and other event details, please go to www.greatgrizzlyrun.com. New this year is the option to register on-line. See you at the start line!

Plumstead Goes to
Cooperstown |
12-year-olds
to compete for national championship
Plumstead Baseball Association (PBA) - the only sports organization in the township --
has been invited to send its 12-year-old baseball team to Cooperstown, N.Y.,
home of the Baseball Hall of Fame. They will compete in the Cooperstown Dreams
Park Invitational Tournament July 16-22.
The
boys will compete against 95 teams for the national title. They are raising
much of the money they need themselves. But if your business or your family
loves baseball, they would love to have your support.
You
can: - be
a team sponsor (starting at $100)
- come
to Comedy Night at Poco's on March 20 at 7 p.m. - only $20 a person!
- send
your baseball player (age 7-10) to a great clinic the team is hosting this
spring
-
or
buy a car magnet ($6, two for $10) to show your support

Together,
we can help the boys achieve their dream and bring the national title to
Plumstead!

CBAA Soccer
|
Youth Programs
The Central Bucks Athletic Association (CBAA) Intramural Soccer Program is to provide
for and encourage youth participation in recreational soccer within the Central
Bucks County community. "Winning" for CBAA Intramural Soccer is not defined by the
score at the end of the game but by the recognition among each of our players
that he/she learned how to play the game of soccer, contributed to the team,
and had fun.
CBAA also sponsors TOPSoccer or The Outreach
Program for Soccer, which is a nationally run organization under the U.S. Youth
Soccer (USSF) organization. It helps get soccer programs, targeting
special needs children, started in local communities. This program
adjusts to the needs of each individual and allows each child to gain
experience in a team sport in a non-competitive environment.
The CBAA TOPSoccer program is offered to children ages from 5 to 14. If you have any questions
about CBAA Intramural Soccer or TOPSoccer, please email us at info@cbaasoccer.com
Program Registration closes January 31st.
