Dear Friends of The Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts,

We have just completed a most successful run of The Nutmeg Nutcracker, one of the highlights of the holiday season here in Connecticut.  This production is only one of the wonderful events of the year as performed by The Nutmeg Ballet by the trainees of our professional training programs.  The Nutmeg has always been a shiny penny among the few classical ballet training schools founded in the United States.  And now in this season of giving, as you consider your year-end philanthropy, we want to share with you the new tax information that may encourage your first-time or ongoing support of The Nutmeg Conservatory.

Earlier this month, Congress passed and President Obama signed, a two-year extension of various tax cuts that were set to expire on December 31st. The bill has several provisions of note for nonprofit organizations. In particular, the bill extends and reinstates tax-free distributions for individuals over 70 ½ years old from their Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA) for charitable contributions, for two years, and permits annual tax-free distributions to charity from an IRA, up to $100,000 per taxpayer. It also allows individuals to make charitable contributions from an IRA through January 2011 as though they were made during 2010, for tax purposes. In order to qualify for the full tax benefit, the funds will need to be designated directly to the non-profit.

If you have any questions or need more information, please do not hesitate to contact our financial consultants Anthony Czararsty or Michele Perrault at 860-284-2215 or aczarzasty@PClient.ml.com or you may contact me at any time at sdante@nutmegconservatory.org.

We are fortunate to have such a long track record of success in Torrington, CT  and a dedicated Board of Directors that believes in our mission as one of the nation's major classical ballet training grounds.  On behalf of all here at Nutmeg, thank you for your friendship, audience participation and financial support  and we hope that you will continue to support The Nutmeg in our greatest and most challenging times.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Staff, Dancers, and Volunteers of
The Nutmeg, may I wish you a wonderful and peaceful 2011 and hope that your dreams are answered.
