Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)

The world is headed toward a paperless society.  You see it everywhere.  More of us are encouraged (and should be encouraged) to pay bills and make donations electronically.  Congregations can, should, and are adapting to this change.

In my own congregation, I chair the Stewardship Committee (odd choice, I know).  Each year when asking for commitments of membership renewal, worship attendance, prayer participation, time and treasure, we ask for commitments of electronic funds transfer.  Each year the percentage of those who use this method of giving increases.  We now have 20% of our pledging household units using EFT.  Most arrange for a monthly withdrawal.  We use a company named Vanco to make the transfers, and the fees more than pay for themselves.  EFT helps cash flow and we have less reminding to do for those who "fall behind" in their commitment.

EFT works.  It's the way the world is headed.
