Child-Abuse Case Has Wide Implications
Medical marijuana is at the center of Daisy Bram's fight to keep her kids.

The past year has been quite a whirlwind for Daisy Bram. The 31-year-old mother of two has had her home raided; she and her husband, Jayme Walsh, were arrested; and their children were ripped from her arms.
The couple celebrated a small victory earlier this month in their battle against Butte County's Children's Services Division, but their fight is far from over.

The Institute on Violence, Abuse and Trauma presents the 17th Annual Conference on Violence, Abuse and Trauma September 9th - 12th in San Diego. Details and registration information are at the link above.
Strengthening Connections!, is a conference to address the unique parenting challenges among families affected by substance abuse, HIV, and trauma; the importance of a strong parent-child relationship for healthy child development; and specific culturally-relevant clinical interventions that can be used to strengthen connections in these families.
This event's agenda features 17 workshops, ample networking opportunities, and prominent speakers such as Bruce Perry, Chandra Ghosh Ippen, Stephanie Covington, Mary Claire Heffron, and Tonier Cain. Dates are September 10 - 12 in Austin, Texas.

Strategies, in partnership with Postpartum Support International, is sponsoring a thorough, evidence-based two-day certification curriculum designed for medical professionals, mental health clinicians, social workers, and childbirth professionals interested in gaining knowledge and increasing skills for assessment and treatment of perinatal mood disorders (PMD). The course is September 27 - 28 in Folsom, California. Details here.
Beyond Consequences: Helping Children Heal, is a course offered by Heather Forbes, LCSW. This course will examine how stress and trauma affect a child's ability to regulate behav-iors and how a history of trauma compromises a child's ability to respond and develop reciprocal relationship.
